COMBINED SECRET POCKET AND HOSEFSUPPORTER.
Specification of Letters Patent. i Patented 12;
Application led May 16, 1917. Serial N0. 169,122.
To all whom it ma concern:
Be it known t at I, HARRLETT LUCINDA PETERSON, a citizen of the Dominion of Canada, and a resident of Portland, County of Multnomah, State of Oregon, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Combined Secret Pocket and Hose-Supp orter, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a secret pocket and means for supporting the same on the leg of the wearer, which means shall also serve-as a hose supporter, being Suspended from a supporting element; thus, if worn by a woman, being then Supported by being attached to the corset.
It is further my object to provide for the comfort of the wearer by having the pocket bear snugly but easily on the thigh of the leg; also to insure ample iexibility in the attachments by which it is sup-ported, so as to permit free movement of the leg, without causing undue strain on such attachments. Also to provide for safety by so suspending Jthe purse that in case of the suspending means giving way in part, the pocket will still be held in upright position, and So avoiding the contents of the purse being spilled out.
The details of construction and arrangement of the parts are more readily understood by having reference to the accompanyindrawings, in which:
igure 1 represents a front elevation of my device as worn, my device being shown as supported from the corset; and
Fi 2 is a rear face elevation of my device y itself.
a represents the lower portion of the corset and b the hose. My device comprises parallel elastic bands c, c the lower ends of which are adjustably fastened by clasps d to a bail or hanger bar e. The latter is of loop-like elongated form comprising upper and lower members, f, g. The upper member comprises bars h, it', horizontally alined and spaced apart by angular portions or z' thereof, as apparent, is not only to provide means for attaching the lower ends of the elastic bands c, c, but also hold such lower ends against lateral movement. The purpose of the bar j of the lower member g and its angular abutments is to provide means to the elastic bands c, c. At the sides, near the Y bottom portion of the pocket o, are provided transverse loops as t, t', which encompass the elastic bands c, c', the loops t, t holding the lower portion of the purse in place on the bands c, 0'; that is to Say, holding the purse from swinging outward from said elastic bands and from moving crosswise thereof.
The pocket is made of flexible material so as to rest comfortably on the leg. The hose supporter, to which the pocket is attached, is permanently secured to the bottom of the corset, so that it may not become accidentally detached, as would be thek case where secured by some such means as a fastening clamp. The pocket is secured at its upper corners to prevent the same from doubling over, or being drawn into an uncomfortable position, as ywould be the case ywhere the pocket is suspended at the central top portion only and carrying articles of some weight.
The front of the pocket is made gathered so as to have a fullness as at u, permitting eX- pansion and providing ample capacity.
Should either of the elastic bands c, c wear away at the top or bottom, the remaining band would still serve to hold the pocket upright by that one of the loops t, t circling 4the remaining band.
I claim:
An article of the character described comprising two pendent parallel elastic bands adapted for attaching to a supporting element fastened on the person, ahanger bar of elongated form comprising upper and lower members 4the ends of the 'upper members in Cluding horizontally alined portions to which the lower ends of said bands are attached, means adapted to hold said lower ends against lateral movement on said upper member, a hose-securing device attached at the middle of the lower member of said hanger bar, a purse` stitches fastening the HARRIET'I LUCINDA PETERSON.
