CORSET.
'o all whom it may concern.' l
Be it known that I, GENEVIEVE HEILNER, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New Yorkand State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in. Corsets; and I do here by declare the following, 'when taken in connection with the Aaccompanying drawings and the characters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and eXact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this application, and represent, in-

Fig. 2 a side 4view of one-half of the corset.
This invention relates to an improvement in corsets, and particularly to bust-reducing corsets; the object being to provide a corset of usual construction with means for reducing the bust and the invention consists in the construction as hereinafter described and particularly recited in the claims.
In carrying out my invention l employ a corset 3 of any approved cut and construe tion, preferably a so-called short corset.
" Superimposed upon the upper edge of the front and side sections of the corset are bustreducing sections 4 and 5. These are preferably formed fronrelastic fabric, although that is not necessary. The lower edges of the bust-reducing sections are secured to the upper edges of the front and side sections 6 and 7 of the corset, and the front binders 8 and 9 extend to the upper edges' of the bustreducing sections, the forward edges of which are inclined upwardly and rearwardly. The rear edges of the bust-reducing sections are secured to the forward edges 'of the back sections 10, which are made` somewhat longer than usual for this pury Specification of Letters Patent.

pose. The forward edges of the bust-reducing sections are preferably connected by lacings 11, so as to permit of more or less adjustment; but these edges may be hooked together or otherwise secured as desired. Preferably, and as herein shown, the corset is also provided with shoulder straps 12 and 13, one end of each being secured to the back sections of the corset and the opposite ends engaged by buckles 14 secured to loops l5 attached to the upper edges of the bust-re# ducing sections near their forward edges. These bust-reducing sections may be drawn as tightly as required, and may be adjusted independently of the adjustment of the corset proper.
l claim l. The combination with a corset having its back section extended` vertically above the upper edges ofthe front and side sections, and elastic bust-reducing sections per'- manently secured to the upper edges of the said front and side sections and to the for: ward edge of the extensions of the back sections. l
2. The combination with a corset having its front and side sections cut away at their upper ends and the back section extended vertically above the upper edges of said front and side sections, and elastic bustreducing sections permanently secured to the upper edges of the saidr front and side sections and to the forward edges of the eXtensions of the back sections.
ln testimony whereof, I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
