The present invention relates to womens bathing suits, and more particularly to a suit of this character having a bust-supporter forming part thereof, with a view of eliminating the necessity of using a separate garment such as a brassiere for this purpose.

More specifically stated, the invention comprehends the use of a suitable piece of material of proper size and outline to define re breast-receiving pockets when the material is attached to the bust of the waist portion of the suit.

In the drawings forming part of this application like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views and wherein: Figure 1 is a rear elevation of a bathing suit embodying the subject matter of the present invention.

Referring to the drawings in detail, A indi cates generally a womans bathing suit of any ordinary or well known construction but in line 3 3 l accordance with the present invention, the

suit has incorporated therein a bust-supporter, which as above stated eliminates the necessity of using a separate'garinent brassiere for this purpose. As clearly illustrated in the drawings, the waist portion of the suit itself is formed or provided with spaced breast-receiving pockets properly located on the inner side of the front portion of the garment.

In the specific embodiment of the invert-- tion herein shown, Imake use of a separate piece of material, preferably of the outline shown in Figure 4, and this piece of material is of a length substantially equal to the width of the garment to extend across the entire width of the front portion thereof. The piece of material preferably includes two substantially crescent shaped portions 10 and 11 respectively which are connected by an intermediate relatively narrower portion 12, and it is of course to be understood that the strip may be made from any suitable material and also vary in size and configuration without departing from the inventive idea. This strip or piece of material when arranged against the inner side of the front of the waist portion of the garment, is preferably stitched at its ends to the garment directly beneath the arm openings therein, and also stitched along its lower edge to the garment as at 13, while the intermediate portion 12 is also'stitched to the adjacent portion of the garment or suit thereby defining spaced breast-receiving pockets 14: as clearly shown in Figure 3. A short length of tape 15 extends from the lower edge of the intermediate portion 12 to the upper edge of the suit and stitched to these parts along its longitudinal edges as at 16, this tape serving to reinforce the suit in its entirety, and also provides a strong and substantial bust-supporter which will bear its weight without subjecting the suit to any unnecessary or undue strain, and thus preserve the normal outline or shape of the upper portion of the suit.

While it is believed that from the foregoing description the nature and advantages of the invention will be readily apparent, 1 desire to have it understood that I do not limit myself to what is herein illustrated and described, and that such changes may be resorted to when desired as fall within the scope of what is claimed.

What I claim as new is:

In a bathing suit, a bust-supporter including a piece of material having substantially crescent-shaped end portions and a reduced intermediate portion, stitching securing the ends of said material and the lower edge thereof to the waist portion of the suit, thereby providing the latter with spaced breast-receiving pockets, and a reinforcing tape extending from the neck portion of the suit to the lower edge of the intermediate portion of the material and stitched thereto along its longitudinal edges for the purpose specified. p
