IMPROVEMENT lN CRIB ATTACHMENTS TO BEDSTEADS.
Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. 130,425.3, dated August 13, 187:2.
Specification describing a new and Improved Crib Attachment to Bedsteads, invented by FREEMAN RYDER, of Great Falls, in the county of Strafford and State of New Hampshire. lMy invention consists of a crib attachment to bedsteads, arranged in such manner that the crib-bed constitutes a kind or" lateral eX- tension of the principal bed, and thereby greatly facilitates the taking out or putting in of children by one lying in the principal bed, because it obviates the necessity of lift ing them over the sides of the frame of the ordinary crib, and constitutes the crib-bed a part of the principal one.
Figure 1 is a sideelevation of a bedstead with a crib attachment applied according to my invention, and Fig. 2 is a transverse section taken on the line x x of Fig. l.

Ais the ordinary bedstead, and B is the frame of the crib attachment, which in this example is attached by the vertical pieces C,
at one side of the bottom, being iitted in the vertical clips D attached to the side of A; the said vertical pieces C and the other side of the crib being connected by braces E for sup porting the outer side of the crib properly. This arrangement allows the crib to be taken oft' and put on readily, as may be required. Instead of the pieces C and clips'D, hooks may be attached to the bottom ot' the crib to catch on the top of the side of A, and the braces E may res't against the side of A or enter little recesses in the side. The attachment may also be eected by other equivalent contrivances, and I do not limit myself to any particular Way, but propose to havevit detachably connected. The bottom of the crib Will be about as high as the top of the side of bedstead A, and said crib will have no side piece on the side next to A, so that the cribbed may be a lateral prolongation of the principal bed, without any such interruption as necessarily exists when the common separate crib is used along side of the principal bed, the inconveniences of which are too evident to need description.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- In combination Withthe bedstead A a cribbed attachment, B, substantially as shown and described. v
