Be it known that I, STEPHEN" HUnAoK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Dannemora', in the county of Clinton, State of New York, have invented a new and useful Blotter; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact descrip-.

Further, a blotter so worn on the hand will not interfere with lifting or carrying books or ledgers from one desk to another, or to the book racks.

It is obvious that a blotter of this kind is at all times conveniently at hand, so that after each and every line or a section thereof, the writing may be easily blotted, by simply moving the hand forwardly and placing the blotter over the line that has been written.

A further object of the invention is to provide an improved fastening means for securing the blotter to the hand.

A further object of the invention is to provide a fastening means comprising long and short extension strips on the longitudinal side edges of the blotter and integral therewith, and to be overlapped on the back of the hand, in combination with a loop for holding the strips overlapped, there being lateral parts cooperating with the loop to prevent a sliding separation of the strips.

In practical fields the details of construction may necessitate alterations falling within the scope of what is claimed.

The invention comprises further features and combination of parts as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings, and claimed.

In the drawings Figure 1 is a view in perspective of the improved blotter constructed in accordance with the invention and illustrated as applied to a hand, for use.

Fig. 3 is a plan view of the blotter constructed in such a manner that the same may be stamped or cut from a blank.

.Fig. 4'is a detail sectional view on line H of Fig. 2. r i In constructing a blotter, a piece of blotting paper may be provided as a blank, from which the blotter 1 as shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3, may be stamped or cut. The blotter proper may be any suitable shape, preferably as shown, for instance elongated and having its forward and rear edges curved as shown at 2 and 3. In cutting the blotter from a blank, extension strips, long and short are formed integral with the longitudinal side edges of the body 1 of the blotter adj acent'the rear end edge 8' thereof. These extension strips 4: and 5 have their end portions terminating in transverse parts 6 and 7, which extend laterally beyond the edges of the strips 4 and 5. These extension strips 1 and 5 may be made in different lengths, whereby blotters may be constructed to fit hands of different sizes. Preferably the extension strips are designed to overlie the back of the hand, slightly to the rear of the knuckle, as shown clearly in Figs. 1 and 2. However, the extension strips may be made short enough to overlie the second, third and little fingers, or to overlie the third and little fingers. However, in these cases the body of the blotter may be made slightly shorter, than when the strips overlie the back of the hand. In fastening the blotter to the hand the extension strips are overlapped, as in Figs. 1 and 2, the strip 5 overlapping the strip 1, and in suchwise that the transverse parts 6 and 7 may be spaced as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. To hold the extension strips overlapped, a loop 8 to be constructed of any suitable material preferably blotting paper or ordinary paper is provided. This 100 is constructed from an elongated strip, fol ed upon itself as shown at 9, so that its ends may be overlapped and secured together by any suitable adhesive material. However in forming the loop, the strip is passed under the underlapped extension strip 4 and over the overlapped extension strip 5, and located in the space intermediate the lateral parts 6 and 7 of said extension strips, as illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2, thereby slidably connecting the extension strips. The lateral parts of the extension strips are spaced sufficiently to permit of play of the loop between the adjacent edges of the lateral parts, whereby the Copies of this patent may be obtained for hand may be easily accommodated under the extension strips, that is when the hand assumes the shape, as shown in Fig. 1 while holding a pen or pencil. The body of the blotter may be made long enough to the rear of the extension strips 4 and 5, that is, if desired, so as to extend approximately tor. the rear of the palm of the hand or the heel thereof. In using the blotter, every now and then after Writing a line or a section thereof, the hand may bepartly straightened out and moved forwardlyover the Writing and the blotter applied, 'orthe hand partly turned, so that the side of the hand ad acent the little finger may apply pressure on the blotter.
