Patented Sept. 16, 1930 PATENT OFFIC EINO J'ALMAR ABRAMSON, F HALFWAY, MICHIGAN FINGER SUPPORT Application filed July 9,
My invention relates to a new and useful improvement in a finger support and has for its object the provision of a device which when worn will assist the user in following the muscular system of writing and prevent writing by flexing and unflexing the fingers, the ultimate object being adevice which will render handwriting an easy and untiring operation.
Another object of the invention is the pro vision of a device of this class which will be simple in structure, economical of manufacture and highly efficient in use.
Other objects will appearv hereinafter.
The invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention will be best understood by a reference to the accompanying drawings which form a part of this specification and in which,
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the inventlon showing it applied.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the invention taken on line 22 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the blank from which the invention is made.
The device is intended for mounting on the thumb 7 of the writing hand 8 and com- 30 prises the stem 9. The device, as shown in Fig. 3, is preferably blanked from a single sheet of metal and projecting laterally outwardly from the stem 9 are the wings 10 and 11, which, when the device is ready for use,
are curled to form a loop, through which the,
thumb may be projected. Projecting laterally from opposite sides of. the opposite end of the stem 9 are the wings 12 and 13 which are adapted to engage the face of the thumb, the wing 12 being angularly turned as at let so that the entire length of the wings 12 1928. Serial No. 291,168.
hand resulting from prolonged writing is obviated.
It is believed that the simplicity of the structure and the economy with which the device may be manufactured is evident.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred form ofmy invention, I do not wish to limit myself to the precise details of struc ture shown, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A device of the class described, comprising a rigid elongated member; a loop carried on one end of said member; and a pair of wings, each projecting laterally outwardly from opposite sides of the opposite end of said member, one of said wings being curved.
2-. A device of. the class described, comprising: an elongated member; a pair of tongues projecting outwardly from one end of said member and curled to form a loop, the ends of said tongues overlapping; a pair of wings extended laterally outwardly from opposite sides of the opposite end of said member at an inclination thereto, one of said wings being of greater length than the other and curled adjacent its end.
3. A device of the class described comprising: a rigid elongated member; a finger receiving loop mounted on one end of said member, the axis of said loop being parallel to the longitudinal axis of said member; and a pair I of wings extended laterally outwardly from opposite sides of the opposite end of said member.
In testimony whereof I have signed the and 13 are engaged by the hand, thus preventing a bending of the first joint of the thumb and requiring the user, in order to write, to move the hand bodily or to write by the muscular method.
With a device such as this attached as described the fiexing and unflexing of the fin- 50 gers is prevented, and the cramping of the foregoingaspecification.
INO J ALMAR ABRAMSON.
