FINGER GUARD IN WRITING.
Be it known that I, GOT'ILIEB Snsnssnn, residing at Zurich, Switzerland, Falkenstrasse 4, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Finger Guards in lVriting, (for which I have filed an application in Switzerland, Dec. 16. 1919,) of which the following is a. specification.
This invention relates to a finger-guard independent of the writing utensil and its object is to provide a device for the correct positioning of the fingers whilst being 00- cupied in writing, the device being characterized by the fact that it is composed of two endwise adjustable leaf-springs forming a strap for application around the fingers at their base with the palm of the hand, and that the strap is fitted with a rectangularly projecting adjustable support for the little finger in longitudinal direction. The support is suitably curved in longitudinal direction as well as crosswise so as to ensure a free and correct pose to the little finger. If desirable similar supports may be provided for some of the other fingers.
The invention is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which Fig. 1 is a front elevation of the guard.
Fig. 2 a side elevation of same.
Fig. 3 is a corresponding plan.
Fig. 4 shows the application of the guard seen from the inside of hand.
Two slightly springy bow pieces 1 and 2 are made to overlap at the inside 0t the hand, while their end portions a and Z) are so curved as to cover at least two thirds of the opposite extreme fingers, that is the forefinger and the little finger of the right hand. A guide-stud 3 and a screw-stud 4 with Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented J an. 3, 11922.
1921. Serial No. 469,987.
screw-nut fast on the inner bow-piece engage in a slot formed in the other bow-piece so that the two parts can be readily adjusted to the width of the hand.
To the outside of the bow-piece 2 and at right angles with the same is fixed a fingersupport 5 with endwise adjustment of a similar kind to' that hereinbefore described, there being shown one such support and which should be so adjusted as to reach exactly forward to the foremost joint of the finger in order to prevent the finger from knuckling and the hand from assuming an unnatural form. It is advantageous to give the support a slightly curved form in downward direction so as to ease the finger.
Without departing from the nature of the invention, I may omit the aforesaid adjusting means for each of the parts and provide straps and finger-support, or supports, of various sizes to fit hands of different human beings. Furthermore, the device or fingerguard may be made of other material than metal.
I claim:
A finger-guard independent of the writing utensil and for the correct positioning of the fingers during writing, comprising a two-part adjustable and slightly elastic strap applicable to the base portion of the fingers, and an adjustable support connected to said strap and disposed at right angles thereto.
In testimony whereof I aifiX my signature in presence of two witnesses.
