Description

P. BLASZKO.
SOLDIERS HEADWEAR.
APPLICATION FILED SEPT.4. 1918.

PIGTR BLASZKO, 0F DETROIT, MICHIGAN.
SOLDIERS HEADWEAR.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 18, 1919.
Application filed September 4, 1918. Serial No. 252,521.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Prorn BLASZKO, a citizen of Poland, residing at Detroit, county of Wayne, and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Soldiers Headwear, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in soldiers helmets and has as its special object the provision of a novel type of helmet and means whereby the helmet may 'be secured to the head of the wearer.
A further object is to provide a structure having an adjustable space between the interior of the helmet and the cap to which it is attached.
A still further object is to provide a helmet of the kind described, having an interior lining closely fitting the head of the wearer and means whereby the helmet may be raised and lowered respective to the cap.
These and other like objects are attained by the novel construction and combination of parts hereinafter described and shown in the accompanying drawings, forming a material part of this disclosure, and in which- Figure l is a side elevational view of a helmet made in accordance with the invention, indicating its application.
Fig. 2 is a front view of the same.
Fig. 3 is an enlarged vertical sectional view taken through the center of the helmet.
Fig. 4 is a perspective view looking on the top of the cap or inner lining of the helmet, and
Fig. 5 is a further enlarged fragmentary sectional view showing the manner which the cap and helmet are engaged.
This device, which is intended to be used in warfare, comprises an inner ooncavoconvex cap-like structure 10 made of textile material and adapted to fit closely upon the (denies oi this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the head of the wearer, which is provided on its marginal edges 11 with a plurality of spring clips secured by their inner elements 12 and bent upon themselves into spring loops 13.
The outer portion of the helment is comprised of a concave-convex element 15, its rear extending down as at 16, as do the cheek portions 17, the front edge 18 of the armor element acting as a vizor, immediately above the eyes of the wearer.
Formed in the inner surface of the element 15, close to the lower edge 18, are under-cut recesses 20 and spaced higher up within the interior of the helmet are like recesses 21, while at the rear is another, lower recess 23, all of the several recesses being adapted to receive the spring clips as shown in Figs. 3 and 4:, indicating clearly that adjustments between the helmet 15 and cap 10 may be made increasing or decreasing the space 24.
In order to hold the helmet in position straps 25 are secured at their upper ends to the interior of the helmet and provided with buckles 26 So that the device may be firmly held upon the head.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In a helmet, the combination with a flexible cap of a concave-convex armor plate spacedly superposed thereover, means for securing said cap in position, undercut recesses formed at different points and at different heights interiorly of said concavoconvex armor plate, and spring clips secured to the marginal edges of said cap engageable in said recesses permitting said concavoconvex armor plate to be adjusted relatively to said cap.
In testimony signature.
whereof I have afiixed my PIOTR BLASZKO.
