ToaZZ whom it may concern Be it known that I, ISAAC PACHNER, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, county of New York, and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Caps, of which the following is a specification.
vThis invention relates essentially to that class of caps in which an eye protector is utilized at times to shield the eye, the de vice being especially adapted for chauffeurs and motormen.
The invention is designed to provide the cap with a pair of goggles or an eye shield permanently attached to the body of the cap, so that it cannot became lost. The eye shield can be adjusted and fixed to the nose and forehead without danger of accidental displacement. The goggles are normally concealed in a pocket located in the crown of the cap. By locating the pocket in the outer portion of the crown it provides ample space forthe goggles and a convenient receptacle which does not interfere with the wearer or in any manner show when the cap is worn. An elastic string is employed for attaching the goggles to the crown of the cap. When the goggles are hidden in the pocket the soft crown can be pulled down on to the vizor in the ordinary way or can be raised as desired without displacing the goggles or disarranging the shape of the cap.

Figure 1 represents a front elevation showing the method of adjusting the goggles to the eyes of a person. Fig. 2 is a side elevation showing the goggles removed from the pocket. Fig. 3 is a vertical section showing the goggles replaced in the pocket. Fig. 4: is a plan view of the same.
In this drawing the letter a designates the crown and Z) is the vizor of an ordinary soft cap. Extending about the crown of this cap is a pocket 0 having a mouth 0? facing the rear portion of the cap. This mouth is normally closed by means of a stud and socket fastener e.
A pair of goggles or an eye shield is normally concealed in the pocket. These eye goggles consist of aflexible bodyportion f hav- T ing eye glasses or lenses 9 mounted on the body. The body portion; is pliable, so as to conform to the contour of the crown of the about the sides and fastened at 2' to the rear Y of the cap, as indicated in Fig. 2. When it is desired to use the goggles the mouth of the pocket is opened as indicated by the dotted lines in Fig. 2, the goggles drawn over the vizor of the cap and adjusted to the nose and forehead of the wearer. In this construction the goggles can be removed from the pocket while the cap is worn and easily fixed to the nose. The elastic band constitutes an adjusting medium in connection with the cap whereby the goggles are held on to the'nose and in line with the eye so that shifting of the device is obviated.

1. A cap having a pocket extending transversely of the exterior of the crown por- A flap m covers the tion thereof and intermediate the front and rear portions of the same, said pocket having an opening and adapted to conceal a pair of goggles, and means for fastening the mouth of the pocket.
2. A cap having a pocket extending transversely of the exterior of the crown portion thereof and intermediate the front and rear portions of the same, said pocket opening rearwardly of the crown and adapted to conceal a pair of goggles, means for securing the goggles to the cap to prevent separation of same therefrom, and means for fas tening the mouth of the pocket.
