Description
A. P. no'uaos. CIGAR AND ClGARh TTE HOLDER. APPLICATION FI I.ED JUNE 21. 1918.
Patented Jan. 7,1919.
' ANDREW P, DOUROS, TACOMA, VJASHINGTON.
CIGAEBJ AND CIGARETTE HOLDER.
1 Application filed June 27. 1918; Serial No. 242,172.
ToaZZ echo-m it may 60mm.- Be it known that 1, ANDREW P. Dom os, a' citizen of Greece, residing at Tacoma, in
the county of Pierceand State of -Washington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cigar and Cigarette Holders, of which the following is a specificati'on.
- I This invention relates to cigar and ciga rette holders and has for its object the propic-h'ing it out with a pin or similar means.
" A further object is the provision of a holder of this character the parts of which, and-especially the ejecting member, may be easily disassembled for cleaning.
An important object is the provision'of such a device which will consist of theminimum number of parts, which will therefore be simple and inexpensive to manufacture, elficient in use and durable in service.
With these and other objects and advantages in view tending toward the general improvement or" the art, the invent-ion consists in the novel construction and arrangement arts to be hereinafter more fully described and claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a longitudinal sectional view of the device holding a cigar,
Fig. "2 is a similar view i parts in ejecting position,
, Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional view on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1, and
Fig.4 is an elevation of the device showingithe parts disassembled.
eferring more particularly to the draw'-' ing, the numeral 5 designates the bit or mouth piece which is of the usual construction, having the bore 6 and reduced end ex-' tension 7, and which may be formed of any suitable material; The bore 6 merges into a. socket 8 which is square in cross-section, as shown in Fig. 3. Y
The cigar or cigarette engaging member comprises a cylindrical sleeve 9 recessed at one end, as shown at 10, for, slidable and revoluble engagement upon the extension 7. At its central portion, the sleeve is provided with a threaded bore 11 which merges into an outwardly flaring recess 12 receiving the endof the cigar or cigarette.
The ejecting member comprises a body Specification of Letters Patent.
' rotate the sleeve 9 with the other in a llustrating the ratnteuaan. 1919.
an integral reduced-shank lsquar'e in cross-- section disposed within the square socket 8 of the mouthpiece. The ejecting member'is provided with a longitudinal bore 15.
\ With the parts assembled as describedJ- and in the position shown in Fig. 1,-the de-' vice is used by placingthe bit in the mouth I and a cigar or cigarette in the opening 12 of the sleeve, as will be obvious. Smoke drawn from the cigar will pass through the bore 15 of the ejector and through the bore I 6 in the usual manner. When the cigar or cigarette has been. smoked to the desired extent, in order to eject the stub it is nerely necessary to grasp the bit 5 in one hand and righthand direction. As the ejector cannot turn,v owing to the engagement of'the square shank within the square socket, the engagement of the threaded portion 11 of the sleeve with the threaded head of the ejector'will causethe ejectorto be moved longitudinally to ward and into the flaring opening 12, ford.
ing the stub out of the opening, as shownin Fig. 2. By rotating the sleeve 9 in thereverse direction the ejector is returned to its initial. position." When the ejector is returned to its innermost position the end of the shank 14; will abut against the shoulder 165 and prevent further rotation of the sleeve.
If desired, the parts may be separated by pulling the sleeve 9 longitudinally from the extension by From the foregoing description and a study of the drawing it will be apparent that I have thus provided a holder for the purpose specified whereby a -,stub maybe easily and quickly ejected without touching it with the fingers, with the consequent danger of burning them,
sity for pickingit out will be, eliminated.
It will of course be understood that do not wish to be limited to the. proportions and Specific shape shown as I reserve the right part from thezspirit of the invention or the scope of the claim.
Having thus descnbed my invention, v v no :claim: A cigar andcigarette holder compris ng a bit provided at one 7 and then unscrewing the ejector rotating the shank 1 lbetween the fingers;

socket, a reduced cylindrical extension on sleeve will be rotatable in respect to said bit,
enden' ejector member including a threaded head engaged within the threaded portion of said sleeve ande reduced squared shank 10 slidable Within said socket; i
In testimony whereof 1 hereto affix my signature ANDREW P. DOUROS.
