This invention relates to a dispensing device, for personal use, and it consists in the constructions, arrangements and combinations herein described and claimed.

It is the principal object of the invention to provide a dispensing device particularly useful by priests in' administering the extreme unction in that a pair of compartments are employed, one of which may contain holy water and the other, oil and some cotton to clean the unctions, as well as some linen for cleaning the fingers of the priest.

It is also an object of the invention to provide a dual compartment receptacle, one compartment of which is provided with ,a dispensing nozzle whereby liquid may be discharged and including a novel closure therefor.

It is a still further object of the invention to provide a dispensing receptacle of extreme simplicity which may be constructed from cheap materials, such as plastics, and the like.

Additional objects, advantages and features of invention will be apparent from the following description and accompanying drawing, wherein Figure 1 is a longitudinal sectional view through the device.

There is illustrated a main receptacle ll] of cylindrical form, as here shown, having a closed end H and an open end I 2, which is closed by a detachable cap cover l3, so as to maintain articles therein, such as a roll of cotton, linen or the like, and a receptacle I4 for oils or the like.

If desired, a means l5 may be positioned within the receptacle for withdrawing articles therefrom. In the present instance, the means is shown as a plate It from which a handle I! is extended, at right angles thereto, the outer end of which is slightly curved as at I8, to permit ready grip of the handle. As shown in Figure 1, the plate i6 extends transversely of the receptacle immediately behind the roll of cotton, and by exerting a slight pull on the handle, the cotton will be withdrawn. Obviously, the handle may be made longer so as to position the plate behind the oil receptacle H4, in which event all articles in the receptacle could be simultaneously withdrawn.

The base II is substantially thick and has formed therein a deep annular groove [9 forming an annular boss 20 axially of the base. A pin 2| is formed upon the boss extended at right angles thereto, so as to lie transversely of the groove.

The liquid receptacle 22 comprises two cylindrical barrels 23 and 24, the latter being of a diameter to snugly but rotatably fit within the former. The barrel 23 is closed at the forward end, except for two discharge openings 25, and the barrel 24 is similarly formed with openings 26 and in addition, an axial threaded bore 21 is formed therein. A coupling plug 28 is employed to connect the barrels 23 and 24, as will now be explained. The plug 28 is of cylindrical shape so as to snugly fit within the barrel 23 and is provided at its forward end with a tongue 29 adapted to fit within a slot 30 formed upon the inner face of the closed end of the barrel 23. The other end of the plug 28 is provided with a threaded stud 3| complemental to the bore 21. The plug is also formed with a pair of openings 32 in registry at all times with the openings 25 of the barrel 23. A packing disk 33 is interposed between the plug and the forward end of the barrel 24, which has openings 34 for registry with the openings 25, 26 and 32.

The rear ends of the barrels 23 and 24 are each formed with respective slots 35 and 36, the slot 35 extending circumferentially of the barrel 23 while the slot 36 extends longitudinally of the barrel 24. These slots are aligned as shown in Figure 2, so as to receive the pin 2| therewithin, when the barrels are inserted in upon the boss 20. The combined thickness of the two barrels 23 and 24 is such as to frictionally fit within the groove l9 so as to afiord a substantially liquid-tight connection.

In use, with the openings 25, 26 and 32 aligned, liquid may be discharged therethrough. However, when it is desired to close the openings, the barrel 23 is rotated, which will be permitted by reason of the circumferential slot 35, the barrel 24 remaining stationary since the pin 2l will be engaged in the slot 36. When the barrel 23 is rotated, the plu 28 will also be rotated so that the openings 25 and 32 will be out of registry with my invention, this is by Way of illustration only,

and I consider as my own all such modifications in construction as fairly fall within the scope of the appended claims.

I claim:

1. A dispensing device for personal use cornprising a pair of aligned receptacles, one being,

partially nested within the other, one receptacle consisting of a pair of cylinders one Within the other, each cylinder having closed forward ends formed with openings therethrough for discharge of material when said openings are aligned, means for holding the innermostcylinder against rotary movement but permitting rotary movement of the outermost cylinder whereby the openings of the last named cylinder will be moved out of alignment with the opening of the innermost cylinder, the other receptacle being provided with a detachable closure cover for housing an oil, cotton and the like and further including a means for withdrawing the enclosed articles.

A receptacle for personal use, comprising a cylindrical receptacle having a detachable closure cover at one end, the other end having a thick base, a deep groove being formed in said base forming an axial plug, a pin on the plug extending transversely of the groove; a liquid containing receptacle comprising a cylinder having a closed end provided With discharge openings therethrough and an axial threaded bore, a coupling member having a threaded stud engaged Within the threaded bore, a compression washer between said coupling member and the closed end of the cylinder and having openings for registry with the first named openings and openings formed in the coupling member, said coupling member having a tongue on the forward end, a 'cylinder'rotatably mounted upon the first named cylinder and having a slot for reception of said tongue, said rotatable cylinder having openings at the forward end for registry with the openings of said coupling member and said first named cylinder, said cylinders being positioned within the groove, formed in the base of the cylindrical receptacle and frictionally engaged therein, the innermost cylinder having a longitudinal slot for reception of said pin and the outermost cylinder having a circumferential slot for. reception of said pin, whereby said outermost cylinder may be rotated.
