Description

E. S. TIPTON SHAVING- COMPACT April 9, 1929.
Original Filed March 14, 1927 Mwwww INVENTOR ATTORNEY Patented Apr. 9, 19 2?).
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EDNA SIZBLEY TIPTON, OF NEW YORK, N.
SHAVING COMPACT.
Application filed March 1 1927, Serial No. 175,120. Renewed September 4, 1928.
The object of this invention is, to provide a small, convenient and artistic razor compact r shaving kit, which is designed to form a companion piece to the manicure set shown in Letters Patent of the United States, No. 1,609A43, granted to me on the 7th day of December, 1926; also as a companion piece to the beauty compacts shown and described in co-pending applications for pat- 1O ents Serial Nos 156,811 and 156,812.
The construction of my improved shavingcompact is clearly shown in the accompanying drawings in which.
Fig. 1 is a plan view,
Fig. 2 is an end view,
Fig. 3 is a transverse section,
Fig. 4 is a plan view with one of the side receptacles shown in the open position, and having a razor therein, also with the respective closure members removed from one end of the barrels and a razor handle partially withdrawn from one of said barrels and a tube of shaving cream partially withdrawn from the other barrel,
Fig. 5 is a side view of the razor hand e,
Fig. 6 is a central, longitudinal section of said handle, and
Fig. '7 a side view of a tube of shaving cream indicating the manner in which a closure member for the end of a barrel also forms a closure member for said tube.
In detail, the construction shown in said drawings is substantially as follows:
An organization which comprises a body as 1. has two relatively parallel, tubular chambers 2, 3, extending longitudinally through the same; either one or both ends of said chambers are provided with a readilyreniovablc closure member as 4 and 5.
Said organization also embodies two receptacles 6 and '7, one of which is adapted to the reception or" a razor head as 8, which is of the well-known Gillette type; the other of said receptacles is adapted to the reception of a package, as 9, of razor blades.
Each of said receptacles 6 and 7 is provided with a lid 10 and 11, and each of said lids is preferably provided with a diagonal oint-line, as 12, where the end walls of the lid contact with the end walls of its respective receptacle; this diagonally disposed joint-line being for the purpose or" forming a low front wall for each receptacle, so as to afford more ready access to the content thereof.
One of the bar els, either 2 or 3, is adapted for the reception of the handle 13 for the razor head 8, and the other barrel is adapted for the reception of a tube 14 of shaving cream. The cap 5 or" said tube 14 is so adapted that it forms a closure for its respective barrel (2 or 3) as well as for said tube. Other novel features of said tube 14 are clearly set forth in my co-pendinq application Serial No. 125,245, filed July 27, 1926 for dental compacts.
In order to increase the storage capacity of my improved compact, the diameter of the razor handle 13 is increased somewhat and is made tubular, so that the bore 16 thereof may contain a styptic pencil; said bore is provided with a rcadily-removablc closure 17.
I claim the following:
In a shaving compact, an organization comprising in combination, a plurality of tubular, relatively parallel containers, closure members for the ends of the bores of said containers whereby they are adapted to carry shaving accessories, receptacles cmbodied in said organization upon opposite sides of and in like lateral relation to each said tubular containers, and hinged closure members for said receptacles whereby they are adapted to carry additional shaving accessories supplementary to those carried in said tubular containers; one of said accessories itself being formed into a container whereby it is adapted to carry an additional shaving accessory.
In testimony whereof I alliX my signature.
EDNA SIBLEY TIPTON.
