STATIONERY APPLIANCE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. it), 1M8.
Application filed November 19 1917. Serial No. 202,770.
To all whom it'may concern:
Be it known that I, HARRY D..Woon, a citizen of the, United States, residing at l airmount, in the county of Grant and State of'lndiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stationery Appliances. of which the following is a specifica- -tion.
This invention relates to stationery appliances and it is the principal object of the invention to provide an improved pen or pencil support adapted, to be engaged with amlsupported upon the neck of an ink bottle or well and serving as means for receiving the pen or pencil and maintaining the same in a convenient position to the user.
Among other aims and objects of the invention may be recited, the provision of a device of the character .mentionedwith a view to compactness, and in which the number of parts are few. the. construction simple, the cost of production small, and etiiciency and operation high.
The improvements in the details and arrangement of parts will be apparent from an inspection of the accompanying drawings, in connection with the specific description hereinafter contained. and wherein the preterrethembmliment of the invention is disclosed for the purpose of imparting a full mulerstzunling of the same.
In the drawings I Figure l is a side elevation of-the device in use, and
Fig. 2 is a perspective of the same.
Referring more speciticallyto the drawings. wherein like reference characters designate corresponding parts in the several views, 1 represents the body of the improved support, the same being semi-circula in cross section and havin s a spring clip 2 formed upon thorear wall thereof, said clip being formed by slittingthe rear wall of the body and rolling the same upon itself. Lugs 3 are formed upon the forward wall and one end of the rear wall of the support body and,
obviously, serve as means for retaining a pen or pencil in the semi-circular support and lessening liability of accidental displacement of the same.
If desired. a spring clip 4.- may be secured to or formed integral with the forward w ll of the body of the support. thus, afiording means for engaging and positively retaining an article upon the same until removed by a user.
From the foregoing, it will be readily understood that, I have provided an exceedingly simple and eflicient' pen or pencil support a'nd further. a device which may be easily engaged with the neck of the conventional design of ink bottle or'well without injuring or altering the same in any Way. Further, the device due to its simplified construction. may be manufac-teredat a minimum cost.
Manifestly, the construction shown is ca pable of considerable modification and such modification as is within the scope of my claims. 1 considerwithin the spirit of my invention.
I claim 1. A support of the character described including a body port-ion having a spring arm struck fronrone side wall thereof at a point above its bottom and a. rearwardly disposed spring tinger formed integral with and extending from the marginal portion oi the opposite side wall of said body.
2. A support of the, character described including a substantially trouglrlike body portion having oneside wall thereof split longitudinally t'ora portion of its length and bent rearwardly to provide, spring" arm. I y
