IMPROVEMENT lN SEWING-MACHINE TABLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 127,604, dated June 4, 1872.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, EDSON W. HoxT, of Perry, in the county of Wyoming and State of New York, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Sewing-Machine Tables; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1 of the drawing is a representation of a front view of my table with leaves lowered.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of my invention.
This invention has relation to Sewing-Machine Tables; and consists in the construction and novel arrangement of hinged extension leaves, and of the sliding keys for supporting the same ina horizontal position, as hereinafter described.
In the drawing, A designates a sewing-machine table of the usual size. B represents an extension leaf hinged to the back part of said table, and 0 a leaf hinged to one side thereof. The hinges a,bywhich the side leafis attached, are pivoted at a place on the table at a distance from the joint, so that when the leaf is down it will hang under the table and be out of the way. To the back part of the leaf 0 is hinged another leaf, E. The leaves 0 and E correspond in width respectivelywith the table A and leaf B. F designates dovetailed keys, arranged to slide through dovetailed recesses Gr cut in the under side of the table and leaves. Each of the leaves B G has one or more recesses, corresponding with others formed in the table, so that the keys may be moved under the joints and thus support the leaves. The leaves B and E have corresponding recesses for a like purpose. The keys are provided with knobs e on their lower sides, or with knobs 0 passing through slots on the upper surfaces of the leaves and table, for the convenience of moving said keys. The recesses through which the keys slide are so extended that the keys may be moved back past the joints.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The rectangular sewing-machine table A, having the hinged back leaf B of the same length, the hinged side leaf 0 of the same width, the hinged complementary leaf E, hinges a, and sliding keys F, all constructed and arranged substantially as specified.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
