To all whom it may concern: l.
Be it knownthat I, OREN E.;WYLIE, a
citizen of: the United States, residing at Washington, {in the county of Washington and State of Kansas, have inventedcertain useful Improvements in Curtain-Brackets, of which the following is a specification, refcrence being had therein to the accompanying drawing. i
The present invention has reference gen erally to improvements inthat class of ins ventlons known as curtains, shades and screensand more particularly relates to a tion resides in theiprovisioniof novelmeans for removably. clampingthe bracket in e115, gagementwith the upper ends of a window casing. i
More particularly, presentlinvention embraces the provision of cooperative relatively adjustable angle clamps on the bracket and arranged to engage the inner and outer corners of the window casing so as to ef fectively supportthe bracket:
The invention as afurther improvements.
consists in theprovision of novelmeans for adjusting the removable angle clamps form ing a part of the bracket.
Among the other aims and objects of the present invention may be recited the provision of a device of the character mentioned with a view to compactness, and in which the number of parts are few, the construe-f tion simple, the cost of production low and the efliciency high.
Other improvements and novel details in the constructlon and arrangement of the various parts of the apparatus will be brought out more in detail in the description to fol low, which for a clear understanding of the invention should be considered in connection with the accompanying drawings forming a part hereof, wherein is disclosed for the purpose of illustration a convenient and satisfactory embodiment of the invention.
It is to be'noted in this connectionthat Va rious minor changes in the construction and arrangement of parts may be made without departing from the spiritof the invention or the principle of operation of thevarious parts. i
The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which-- N a Figure 1 is a front elevation of the invention in position on a window casing.
takenionline 2 -2 of, Fig. .1.
Fig. isa perspective detail of one ofthe brackets. Y
Similar reference characters are employed in all-ofthe above described views, to india window casing including side pieces 1 and an upper cross piece 2 connected at the re.
spective ends by means of caps 3. RemOVf ably mounted atflthe upper corners of the, p r i q casingaboutthel caps are improvedcurtain As the primary aimand obj-ect,zthisinven+ bracketsconsistsof a body 5which is dis} posed diagonally across the outer face of one In the present; instance eachpof these.
.. L q 1 Fig. 21s an enlarged.transversesection ofathe; caps andextending in, a direction from the inner corner .to 113116 outer lcorner thereof, the outer endbeingbent at right,
angles and twisted so as to be arranged diagonally of the plane of the body, being secured totthe inner surface. ofja stationary angleyclamp 6 by means of a suitable as teningdevice 7. As indicated in the drawings the stationary angle clamp is engageable with the outer corner of one of the caps 3 so that theopposite end of the body projectsbeyond the inner corner of thecasing while an inwardly extending flange 8 is formed thereon.
Cooperating with the stationary angle c1amp'6 is a movable angle clamp 9 which is arranged so that the outer surface thereof will engage the inner corner of the window casing.
As intimated improved means have been providedfforad usting the movable angle clamp. In reducing this feature of the invention to practice, a screw 10* is adjustably mountedin the threaded aperture 11 in the flange 8 while a ball 12 is formed on the inner end of the screw and is universally mounted in a. socket 13 carried by the inner surface of the movable angle clamp 9 at its point-of distortion 14. .A wing head 15 is formed on the outer end of the screw and facilitates manual adjustment thereof to consequently move the angle clampsfi and 9 respectively into engagement with the outer and inner corners of the casing as indicated in Fig. 1. a r
In orderfltoprovide improved means on the bodies 5 of each of the brackets lfor supporting a curtain rod or the like angle.
" brackets are in supports 16 are employed, the securingportions 17 being rigidly connected'to thebodies -intermediate the ends thereof by suitable fastening devices 18, so as to maintain the 'It'is thought in view of the 'foregoing'description that a further detailed description of the operationof the invention is entirely specific features oi the invention herein deunnecessary; Likewise it is believed that the advantages of the invention will be readily apparent. I I r V As many changes could be-made 1n the above construction and many apparently Widelyditlerent embodiments of this invention could be'inadewithout departing from the scopethereof, and it is intended that all matter contained in the a-bo edescription or shown 'in the accompanying drawings shall" bB d'DtQIPTBtGCl as illustrative and not in a; lim ted sense. It 1s also to be understood that the language used in the following claim is intended to cover all the generic and the position as indicated inscribed and all statements of the scope of the invention which as a matter of language might be said to fall therebetween.
Having thus fully described this invention, what is claimed as new and desired to be secured by Letters-Patent, is:
In acurtain bracket comprising a body for'medfi-om a piece of strap meta] adapted to be disposed diagonally across the outer face of one cap of a window casing and having the outer portion bent at right angles and twisted'so as'to be arranged diagonally ofthe'plane of the body, a stationary angle clamp carried by the outer bent portion of the body and adapted for engagement with the outer corner of the cap of a window casing, an inwardly extending flange formed on the inner end of the body and having a threaded opening therein, a movable angle clamp adapted'for' engagement in the inner corner of the window casing, a socket earri'ed by the inner surface of the movable angle clamp adjacent the point of distortion thereofi'a screw adjustably mounted in the opening in the flange and universally connected in the flange'in' the socket, a wing head formed on the screw for facilitating adjustment, and a curtain rod support carried by'the outer face of the body.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
