SHADE AND CURTAIN FIXTURE.

To all whom, it may concern:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM FELGER, a citizen of the United States, residing at West Unity, in the county of Williams and State of Ohio, have invented new and useful Improvements in Shade and Curtain Fixtures, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in shade and curtain fixtures designed for use in connection with windows and similar places where it is desired ,to attach and suspend window shades and curtains or draperies.

The invention relates to that class of shade and curtain fixtures which are designed to support shade-rolls and curtain-poles of varying lengths and which may be readily attached to and detached from anyordinary window or door frame or moved up and down for ventilation by any ordinary person without the use of tools, nails, or screws, as is the case in attaching the window-shades and curtain-fivtures now in common use, without marring or indenting window-frames.

The aramount object of the invention is to pro uce a generally-improved device of this class which will be exceedingly simple in construction, chea of manufacture, and efficient in use and w 1ich will be better adapted to its intended pur oses than an other device of the same ci ass with which I am acquainted.

With these ends in view the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement, and combination of parts hereinafter described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

Referring to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a front elevation of my improved fixture in its operative position applied to an ordinary window-frame. Fig. 2 is an enlarged plan View of one of the main supporting-plates for supporting one of the movable brackets. Fig. 3 is a top plan view of the same. 4 is a sectional view of the same, taken through line 4 4 of Fig. 2. Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the movable bracket. Fig. 6 is a top plan view of a modification of one of the main supporting-plates with movable bracket.

Similar numerals of reference indicate like parts throughout all the figures of the drawings.

The invention is designed to be formed out of sheet metal and consists, essentially, of a Specification of Letters Patent.

pair of main supporting-plates 1, having their outer ends bent over and about to form two or more hooks 2, adapted to be brought into engagement with the outer edges of the window-frame 3 by the means hereinafter de scribed.

1O designates a bracket rovided with a shank 11, secured to one end of the movable block or base-piece 7 or formed integral therewith and which is adapted to be moved longitudinally of the slot 4 and fastened, by means of the thumb-nut 9, in any desired position, so as to accommodate shade-rolls and curtain-poles of varying lengths, the ends of which are adapted to be carried in the openings 12 and recesses 13, respectively, formed in said bracket 10.

In order to provide for the adjustment of the main supporting-plates 1, carrying the brackets 10, to window-frames of varying widths and for drawing the hooks 2 into engagement with the outer edges of the window-frame 3, I secure the same together by means of a pair of small rods or Wires 14, the outer ends of which are provided with heads 15, adapted to take into engagement with a small angle arm or flange 16, provided with an opening through which said rods or wires 14 pass. To the inner ends of the rods or wires 14 there is secured a link-nut 15, threaded to receive the threaded ends of said rods or wires 14 and by means of which the same may be adjusted to clamp or unclamp the main supporting plates 1, provided with hooks 2, to and from the outer edges of the window-frame 3.

In Fig. 6 I have shown a modification of my invention, in which the hooks 2 are riveted or secured in some other suitable manner to the under side of the main supportingplate 1 instead of being formed integral therewith, as shown in the other figures of the drawings.

It will be understood also that the invention maybe found useful as a curtain or drapery pole supporter or fixture at inner doors and other places about a home.

From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying. drawings,

the operation and advantages of my invention will be readily understood.
