"WILLI-dill' W. MANNJING', Olli* JlIIOUXlTAlWAlR.,
lllilltllhlllll GL'llE-THJEMBLE.
To aZZ 'whom t may concern."
Be it known that ll, WILLIAM W. MAN- NING, a citizenof the United States, residing at Mountainair, in the county of 'lorrance and State of N ew Mexico, have invented a new and useful Glove-Thimble, of which the following is a specification.
The device forming the subject matter of this application is adapted to loe applied to the ends of a finger of a glove, for the purpose of protecting the finger of the glove, the structure being of peculiar utility when employed in connection with the threshing of beans, it being a matter of common knowledge that bean threshing will wear out a pair of gloves in a short space of time, a pair of bean-threshers gloves frequently lasting no longer than two days.
The invention aims to provide a linge-rstall embodying a novel means for attaching it to a glove, the stall being so constructed that an adequate ventilation will be afforded, thereby preventing the finger of the wearer from becoming sore or overheated.
It is within the province of the disclosure to improve generally and to enhance the utility of devices of that type to which the present invention appertains.
With the above and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being' understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed can be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the accompanying drawings z- Figure l shows in side elevation, a linger stall constructed in accordance with the invention, the same being assembled in a glove finger;
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the stall;
Fig. 8 is an elevation showing the stall as viewed in a different position from that pictured in Fig. l; y
Fig. 4 is an end elevation of the stall;
And Fig. 5 is a fragmental section taken through the stall, and showing a portion of a glove finger engaged with the prong.
lin carrying out the present invention there is provided a cap of tubular form, the
specicaton oi' Letters Patent. Application filed April 24, 1916.

cap being closed at its outer end shown at 2. rlllhe cap l preferably is made of metal and is provided on its inner surface with spaced Ventilating perforations 3. On its inner surface, the cap l is supplied with a single opening 4- of relatively large size, de-
ning a cross bar 5 at the butt end of the cap l, the opening et being located within the contour of the cap. rihe cap provided at its sides and at the ends of the cross bar with integral, unbendable, hook-shaped, glove-engaging prongs 6 extended longitudinally of the cap.
rlille end of the finger 7 of a glove'is placed in the cap l, portions of the linger of the glove, at the sides thereof, being engaged as shown at 8, with the prongs the ends 9 of the prongs being' bent so that they extend into certain of the Ventilating perforations 3, the construction being such that the prongs cannot be bent accidentally into an open position.
rllhe device forming the subject matter of this application, when a plied, to the lingers of a glove, will lengthen materially, the life of the glove in bean threshing and similar operations wherein a glove ordinarily wears out quickly.
aving thus described the invention, wh at is claimed is :E
l. A linger-stall in the form of a metallic cap provided on its inner surface with spaced Ventilating perforations and provided at its sides with bendable hook-shaped glove-engaging prongs having their free ends extended into certain of the perforations.
2. A. linger-stall in the form of a metallic cap provided on its inner surface with spaced Ventilating perforations and provided on its outeiI surface with a single opening located within the contour of the cap and defining a cross bar at the butt end of the cap, the cap being provided at its sides and at the ends of the cross bar with bendable hook-shaped glove-engaging prongs eX- tended longitudinally of the cap.
lin testimony that l claim the foregoing as my own, ll have hereto affixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
