`PATENT GFFIOE.
JOHN W. ROGKAFELLOW, F STOCKTON,NEW JERSEY.
IMPROVEMENT IN TICKET-HOLDERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 126,747, dated May1 14, 1872.
Specification describing a new and Improved Ticket-Box, invented by JOHN W. ROOKAFEL- LOW, of Stockton, in the county of Hunterdon and State of New Jersey.
My invention has for its object to furnish, for use of railway or other ticket-sellers, a ticket box or holder, so constructed that the withdrawal of tickets may be effected more. readily than heretofore. TO this end, I pivot within a suitable case the small rectangular i sponding parts.
A represents the ticket-box, which may be of any depth, according to the height of the pack of tickets it is required to hold, and in horizontal section its internal size will be a triiie larger than the dimensions Of the tickets in length and breadth. It is hinged at B to any suitable support, and has a slot,G,through the lower back, j ust above the bottom, about as wide vertically as the thickness of a ticket, and also a slot, D, through the front that will allow a ticket to come out; or the front plate or plates E of the box may be applied so as to be adjustable vertically to vary the vertical breadth of the slot D for tickets of different thickness.
F is a thin plate or pusher, fastened to a support behind the box, and extending into it above the bottom a quarter Ofan inch, more or less, in such manner that when the box is swung forward at the bottom the rear end of the ticket resting on the pusher is brought in front of the end Of said pusher, and will fall to the bottom of the box, where it will be thrust out through slot D by the pusher, as indicated in Fig.' 2, when the box goes back, s o that it can be readily taken hold of to be pulled out; and in pulling the ticket out the seller will also take hold of the box, so as to swing it forward and cause the next ticket to be thrust out ready toV be taken in like manner. A stop-bar, J, may be arranged above the box to arrest the outward movement and prevent swinging it tOO far. K is a weight that is used to insure the falling of the tickets. Said weight has ahandle, L, projecting through a slot in the front plate ofthe box for convenienee in handling it.
Having thus described ny invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- In combination with the hinged ticket-box or holder, the stationary pusher F, substantially as shown and described. v
JOHN W. ROGKAFELLOW.
