CANDY MENU STAND.

This invention relates to a candy menu stand adapted for the display and sale of candy or the like. H

The object of the invention is to provide a novel and attractive stand of the class described having compartments for a plurality of different kinds of candies or other similar goods to be dispensed and which will effectively display the same upon a counter so that the packages will be exposed to' view until the last one has been sold but which can be readily refilled to replenish the packages therein.

Other and further objects of the invention will be apparent as the description proceeds and it will be seen that it consists of certain novel combinations and arrangements of parts to be hereinafter more particularly pointed out and described.

Referring to the drawings in detail, in which like reference characters designate 30 corresponding parts throughout the several views, 5 designates the sides. of the stand which are preferably of sheet metal and provided with vertical rear edges 6, bottom edges 7 and vertical front edges 8 at their extreme lower portions, from which said edges extend at an upward and rearward inclination as indicated at 9 and then at an obtuse angle relative thereto as indicated at 10 in inclined position to the top of the rear edge 6. The blanks from which these sides or walls are stamped are preferably notched at the corner portions and turned over as indicated at 11, to prevent the exposure of a raw edge which is apt to cut. The vertical rear edges are flanged inward- 1y at right angles as indicated at 12, and

the sides 5 are connected by a transverse brace strip 13 vertically near the bottom within the flanges 12, said brace strip having its ends 14 bent at right angles and'secured to the sides 5 as indicated at 15, by means of rivets or other suitable fastenings. The top and bottom edges of the brace 13 are also turned over as'indicated at 16 to reinforce the same and the parts are braced into position by the fact that the brace 13 fits within the flanges 12 and against the same. .6 i a At the front of thestand at the vertical bottom edges 8, the sides 5' are connected by a transverse brace strip .17 having its ends 1 18 turned at right angles and secured as at 19 by means of rivets or the like to the sides 5 w ile the bottom edge thereof is turned upwardly at an acute angle as indicated at 20 and the top edge is turned downwardly as indicated at 21 in addition-to having a series of cuts or kerfs forming slots 22 as more particularly shownin Figure-41- of the drawings. The bottom, portions2 l and 25 have thin side portions flanged upwardly as indicated at 26, and the rear end of the bottom portion 24 is directed vertically upwardly as indicated at 27 against the flange 12, said flanges being secured by rivets or the like 28 to the sides 5. A series of vertical partitions 29 are provided from front to rear in the trayformed by the bottom portion 24 with the sides 5 and the front member 17, said partitions being disposed in spaced parallel relation and having spaced tongues 30 extending through spaced slots 31 spaced apart in the bottom-portion 24 and turned over to secure. these partitions rigidly in po sition in conjunction with similar fastenings 32 at the back portion 27. The top portions of the partitions29 at their rear. ends are beveled as indicated at 33; so as to extend horizontally and the top edges are rolled or turned over as indicated at 34: to protect the hands of the user from cutting from the exposed edges. The front ends of the partitions 29 fitin the slots or kerfs 22 and against the front portion 17 and said front ends are also flanged as indicated at 35 to fit against the flange 36 turned upwardly from the bottom portion 24 in addition to fitting against'the front portion 17, thus providing a Very rigid form of connection between these parts which will prevent the partitions from getting loose or having sidewisemovement;

The bottom portion '25 extends downwardly in convergent relation to the bottom portion 24, that is, at a greater forward inclination as shown more particularly in Figure 2 of the drawings and has therein, partitions 37 secured in the same manner as the partitions 29 as by the tongues 38 passing through slots in the bottom portion 25 and having its rear portion 39 turned upwardly and flanged at the ends forriveting or other attachment to the sides 5 as indicated at 40. The partitions 37 fit in the trout portion 23 at the slots 22 and against the bottom flange 20, and have their forward ends flanged as at $35 the same as the partitions :29 and similarly anchored in position, and to the back portion 39 through the medium of tongues 4-] extending tl'irough slots 42 therein. At the top, a pivoted display or advertising sign a?) is provided having flanged side portions 4-4: directed forwardly and extended below the bottom edge of the sign t to form cars 45 which are pivoted to the sides 5 near their upper ends and at the back 6 as indicated at 46. this sign being adapted to be thrown down against the top edges of the partitions 37 when the device is being shipped, so as to form an additional means for retaining the sides against ontward displacement as well as to protect the sign. \Vhen the sign is raised, its lower edge strikes the top edge of part 39 and limits its movement or dis 'ilacement to a vertical position.

It will be seen that a device constructed as described, will have any number of compartments running from front to rear above the bottom portions 2 t and 25 and that the front ends of the compartments at the bot tom extend in Front of the compartment. thercabove so that the goods in the compartments are entirely (XIJOSttl until the last one is sold. The lower compartments may he replenislual at the rear through the opening between the top and bottom compartments through which light also passes. that is. beneath the bottom portion 25 and the sides 5 and the upper compartments may be replenished from the top. All of the parts are preferably of sheet metal.

While I have shown my invention in a preferred form, it is to be understood that various changes may be made in the method of attachment of the parts and in form and arrangements, without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention so long as the same do not part from the spirit and scope of the following claims.

Having thus described my invention what I claim is:

1. A menu stand of the class descrilna'l. including side walls, connections between said side walls. and a plurality of upper and lower partitions extending from the front to the rear of said walls in inclined position and providing compartments in spaced relation, and bottom walls for the partitions, the uppcr bottom being at a greater inclination than the lower.

2. A menu stand of the class described including side walls, connections between said side walls, and a plurality of spaced upper and lower partitions extending from the front to the rear of said walls and providiug plurality of compartments extending in a similar direction, and trout portions connecting the sides and forming the front walls of the compartments, said compartments having bottom walls connecting the side walls and connected to the partitions. the lower partitions extending forwardly of the upper partitions and cmnpartments and the upper being at a greater inclination than the lower.

5. In a candy or like menu stand. side walls, upper and lower inclined walls between said side walls and connected thereto. front walls between said side portions and engaging the forward ends of the nclined walls. partitions extemling from front to rear and vertically in spaced relation between the side walls to provide compartments extending from the front to rear. the rear ends of said inclined walls being ,directed upwardly at the rear edges of the side walls and anchored thereto. and said inclined walls having slots. the partitions having tongues extending through said slots and bent to secure the partitions in position.

inclined walls, partitions extending from front to rear and vertically in spaced relation between the side walls to provide compartments extending from the front to rear, the rear ends of the inclined walls being directed upwardly, the rear ends of the par titions engaging said upwardly directed portions and the upper portions of the partitions on the lower inclined wall being extended horizontally at their upper portions in obtuse angular relation to their top edges at their front portions, the rear edges of the sides being flanged inwardly for engagement by said upwardly directed portions, and a brace strip between said sides at the bottom.

7. In a candy or like menu stand, side walls, upper and lower inclined walls between said side walls and connected thereto, the upper wall converging toward the bottom wall, front walls between said side portions and engaging the forward ends of the inclined walls, partitions extending from front to rear and vertically in spaced relation between the side walls to provide compartments extending from the front to rear, the rear ends of the inclined walls being directed upwardly, the rear ends of the partitions engaging said upwardly directed portions and the upper portions of the part1- tions on the lower inclined wall being ex tended horizontally at their upper portions in obtuse angular relation to their top edges at their front portions, the rear edges of the sides being flanged inwardly for engage ment by said upwardl directed portions, and a pivoted display sign mounted on the sides of the stand and comprising a plate having forwardly directed forward edges and extended bottom ears pivoted against the sides, said sign being adapted to swing downwardly against the top edges of the partitions of the upper compartment.

8. In a menu stand of the class described, sidewalls having vertical rear edges, vertical portions at their front edges near the bottom, said edges then directed upwardly and rearwardly at an inclination for a distance and then at an obtuse angle rearwardly to the top edge of the edges of the sides at the back, a brace member between said sides at the bottom of their rear edges, upper and lower brace members between said sides at the lower vertical portion and at the juncture of the inclined portions to set the upper brace member rearwardly from the lower inclined portions at the bottom, said braces having turned edges and wardly and secured to said sides, and artitions arranged on said bottom port1ons between the front braces and the upwardly directed rear end and anchored in spaced parallel relation thereto, the front edges of the partitions fitting the slots of the front braces.

9. In a menu stand of the class described, side walls having vertical rear edges, Vertical portions at their front edges near the bottom, said edgesbeing then directed upwardly and rearwardlyat an inclination for a distance and then at an obtuse angle rearwardly to'the .top edge of the edges of the sides at the back, a brace member between said sides at the bottom of their rear edges, upper and lower brace members between .said sides at the lower vertical portion and at the juncture of the inclined portions to set the upper brace member rearwardly from the lower inclined portions at the bottom, said braces having turned edges and slots in the top edges thereof with a flange at the bottom, bottom portions spaced apart between the sides and having their forward ends engaging the braces at the front and having the sides anchored to the sides of the stand and their rear edges directed upwardly and secured to said sides, the upper bottom portion extending downwardly at converging relation to the lower bottom portion providing upper and lower supports spaced apart, partitions on said Walls and having their forward ends fitting the slots of the front braces and having tongues connected to said bottom walls and upwardly directed portions, to provide compartments running from front to rear, the lower compartment being accessible between the upwardly directed portions at the rear, and having their lower ends exposed in front of the upper compartments, and a sign member secured to the sides above the upper compartments at the rear edges of the side portion and adapted to contact with the top edge at its bottom to prevent rearward dis placement of said sign.
