D, CURTIS.
Horse-Collar Cap.
WITNEEELES vLNVENTIIIFI l w da UNI'rEn ,S'rII'rEs DEXTER CURTIS, OF SUN PRAIRIE, WISCONSIN.
IMPROVEMENT |N HORSE-COLLAR CAPs.
Specilication forming part of Letters Patent No. 126,681, dated May 14, 1872.
SPECIFICATION.
To 'whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DEXTER CURTIS, of Sun Prairie, in the county of Dane and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Horse-Collar Caps, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, which will enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forminga part hereof, and in which- Figure l represents a perspective View of my improved horse-collar cap, and Fig. 2 a
vertical central transverse section of the same in the plane of the line w w.
My invention relates to a horse-collar cap made in one piece of sheet metal; and consists of a piece of sheet metal closely fitted to the top thereof, and provided with loops, stamped therein or raised therefrom, for the reception of straps by which the cap is attached to the collar.
In the drawing, A represents a horse-collar cap made in one piece of sheet metal, and B a piece of sheet metal closely fitted and riveted thereto. C C are loops stamped in or raised from the piece B lby suitable dies, the said piece being first properly cut or slotted, so that the loops will be sufficiently open for the reception of suitable straps for attaching the cap to the collar. The loops C C are intended for the reception of the straps when the cap is attached to a collar which is open at the top, and the loops C C are used when the cap is attached to a collar which is continuous across the top. D D are rivets by which the piece B is attached to the cap. The piece B serves to strengthen or stitfen the cap, and admits of an easy construction of the loops.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In combination with a h orsecollar cap made in one piece of sheet metal, the metallic piece B, closely fitted thereto, and provided with the loops C C', either or both, stamped therein or raised therefrom, substantially as and for the purposes specified.
The foregoing specification signed by me this 12th day of March, A. D. 1872.
DEXTER CURTIS.
