To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, MORTIMER A. SHER- 1011, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Orleans, in the parish of Orleans and State of Louisiana, have invented cer tain new and useful Improvements in Combination Cigar, Cigarette, and Match Dispensing Humidors; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to improvements in dispensing humidors.

The object of this invention is the provision of a humidor which is provided With a relatively stationary receptacle on which is slidably mounted a relatively movable receptacle, which movable receptacle is provided with chambers, one chamber adapted to hold cigars or cigarettes and the opposite chamber adapted to hold matches, whereby upon movement of the movable receptacle with relation to the lower stationary receptacle, matches and cigars and cigarettes will be dispensed therefrom singularly.

Another object of this invention is the provision of a dispensing humidor that has a relatively stationary receptacle and a relatively movable receptacle, means for con necting the receptacles together, means for holding the receptacles against separation with relation to one another, and means in the movable receptacle supporting matches and cigars whereby upon movement of the movable receptacle, they will be dispensed therefrom.

A still further object of this invention is theprovision of a humidor of this character, which will be simple, practical and comparatively inexpensive in construction, and one that can be manufactured and sold at a low cost.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists of the novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described and set forth in the claims hereto appended.

Like numerals of reference designate corresponding parts in all the figures of the drawings.

Referring more particularly to the drawings, the numeral 1 designates the relatively stationary receptacle in its entirety, which comprises the front wall 2, rear wall 3 and side walls 4: and these are secured to the rectangular base 5, which base supports the relatively stationary member upon a support or the like.

The side walls 4 and the front vertical side edge of the front wall 2 is cut away as at 6 to provide the dispensing member 7, the purpose of which will be hereinafter more fully described.

The upper edge of the front wall 2 has a slight cut out portion 8 at one end thereof, the purpose of which will be hereinafter more fully described.

A relatively movable member designated in its entirety by the numeral 9 comprises in its construction, the front wall 10, side walls 11 and rear wall 12, and has removably connected to its upper edges the cover 13, leaving its opposite end fully open so that it may slidably receive the walls of the relatively stationary receptacle 1 therein.

The cover 13 is provided centrally of its side longitudinal edges and adjacent its forward edge with a transversely arranged elongated opening 14, which is adapted to receive the upper edge 7 of the front wall 2 of the relatively stationary member 1 therein and the top member is placed upon the stationary member 1. I

The cover is also provided adjacent its rear edge with the elongated transversely arranged rectangular opening 15, which is adapted to receive the upper edge 16 of the rear wall 3 of the stationary receptacle 1 When'the relatively movable section 9 is slid thereon. The removable cover 13 is also provided centrally in its upper face with a transversely arranged groove 17 in which is secured, suitable roughened material 18, such as sand paper,'emery or the like or any suitable material may be arranged therein to constitute a match scratcher.

The cover 13 is secured to the upper edges of the walls of the relatively movable receptacle 9 in any suitable manner, such as by glue, adhesive or the like, and the relatively movable member 9 has its opposite end fully open and its interior is of a greater area than the exterior of the relatively stationary member 1, thus the relatively movable member may be freely slid up and down on the relatively stationary member and the rear wall 3 and front wall 2 of the relatively stationary member will project upwardly through the openings 14L and 15 in the removable cover 13 which is carried by the relatively movable member 9 when the device is in use. When the relatively -movable member is arranged upon the stationary member, the lower edges of its walls will engage the base 5 to limit the movement of the same thereon, thus the upper edges 7 and 16 of the front wall 2 and rear wall 3 of the relatively stationary member will be flush with the upper surface of the removable top 13, as shown in Fig. l.

A supporting and spacing member 19 comprising a body portion having its front face concave as at 20 and its lower edge substantially convex asat 21 is secured to the front wall 10 and one side wall 11 of the relatively movable receptacle 9. lhe upper edge of the member 19 is flush with the upper edges of the relatively movable receptacle 9, as shown at 22, the purpose of which will be hereinafter more fully described. V

A curved substantially concavo-convex supporting wall 23 is secured by its side edges to the side walls 11 of the relatively movable receptacle 9, and the opposite side edges of the curved supporting wall 23 are arranged to fit in curved recesses 24 located on the interior of the side walls 11 at diametrically opposite points, the convex portion of the supporting wall 23 is arranged to fit in the concave face 20 of the supporting member 19, and the upper edge of the supporting wall terminating flush with the upper edge of the supporting member 19 and in close proximity to the inner face of the front wall 10 of the relatively movable receptacle 9; the lower edge of the partition wall 23 is bent downwardly in a vertical plane as at 25 and is adapted to have a sliding engagement with the inner face of the rear Wall 3 of the relatively stationary receptacle when the stationary receptacle has the relatively movable receptacle sliding thereon, thus the contents upon the supporting partition wall 23 will be held on' the partition wall and against passing down through and into the relatively stationary receptacle 1 during the sliding movement of the relatively movable receptacle 9 thereon.

A second partition wall 26 has an inclined body portion which has its opposite side edges embedded in inclined grooves 27, formed on the interior and at diametrically opposite points of the side walls 11 of the relatively movable receptacle 9; The upper edge of the partition 26 is arranged to have abutting engagement with the convex wall of the partition 23 intermediate the ends thereof, as shown in Fig. 2, and the extreme outer or lower end of the partition 26 is bent downwardly and in a vertical plane as at 28 and is adapted to have a sliding engagement with the inner surface of thefront wall 20f the relatively stationary receptacle 1, when the movable receptacle is sliding thereon.

A connecting tape 29 has one end secured as at 30 to the under side of the partition walls 26 and 23 and at the point of engagement of the upper edge of the partition wall 26 with the partition wall 23, thus materially assisting the partition wall 26 in engagement and connected to the under side of the partition wall 23 as shown at 31. The opposite end of the tape is secured to the upper side or inner side of the base 5' as at 32 and thus the relatively movable receptacle is held against being entirely removed from the stationary receptacle :1.

The upper side of the auxiliary partition supporting wall 26 is in engagement with the convex surface 21 of the member 19, thus" opening 15 in the cover 13, they will drop down upon the partition 23 and will roll toward the forward end thereof, thus by releasing pressure on the relatively movable member 9, it will seek its initial position thereof, thus forcing the portions 7 and 16 of the front wall 2 and rear wall 3 up through the openings 14 and 15 in the.

upon the stationary member 1, and its lower 1 V edges will be in engagement with the base When it is desired to take a cigarette and match from the receptacle, all that is necessary is to raise up on the movable receptacle 9 until the edges 7 and 16 of the front wall 2 and rear wall 3 are below the edges of the partition walls 23 and 26 and a match and cigarette will be forced on the edges 7 and 16 of the walls 2 and 3, and by forcing the member 9 down upon the member 1, the cigarette and match will be forced through its respective opening let and 15 in the cover 13, and this operation can be repeated until the desired amount of cigars, cigarettes and matches are obtained.

It is to be understood that a glass of water or a saturated sponge can be placed in the lower receptacle 1 upon the upper side of the base 5, and thus thoroughly keep the contents of the humidor in a moistened condition at all times.

What is claimed is:

1. A device of the class described comprising a rectangular relatively stationary receptacle, a relatively movable rectangular receptacle slidably arranged on the stationary receptacle, a cover for the movable receptacle, said cover provided with openings, a supporting member secured to and in the upper portion of the movable receptacle, partition walls secured transversely across the movable receptacle at the upper end thereof and located on opposite sides of the supporting member, the free ends of the partition walls bent downwardly for sliding engagement with the inner surface of certain walls of the stationary receptacle, and a connecting tape secured to the partition wall of the movable receptacle and to the bottom Wall of the stationary receptacle preventing the movable receptacle from being entirely removed from the bottom receptacle, as and for the purpose specified.

A. device of the class described comprising a rectangular base, side walls secured to the upper side of the base, front and rear walls secured to the upper side of the base and to the opposite side longitudinal edges of the side walls forming a stationary receptacle, said side walls being cut away and a portion of one side edge of the front Wall thereof, a movable rectangular receptacle comprising front and rear walls and side walls slidably arranged on the walls of the stationary receptacle, a cover for the upper end of the movable receptacle and provided with transversely arranged openings to receive the upper ends of the front and rear walls of the stationary receptacle therethrough, a pair of partition Walls removably fitted in the side Walls of the movable receptacle having their free ends bent downwardly for engagement with the inner surface of the front and rear walls of the stationary receptacle, and a tape secured to the partition walls and to the bottom of the stationary receptacle for limiting the upward movement of the movable receptacle on the stationary receptacle, as and forthe purpose specified.
