COMBINED CHIP-BACK, CIGAR-HOLDER, AND ASH-TRAY.
Application filed February 15, 1917.
1 b all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Annsnosn H. Bromine, citizen of the United States, residing at Dayton, in the county of Moi'itgomery and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combination Chip-Racks, Cigar-Holders, and Ash-Trays; and I do declare the follcwing to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention comprises a combination chip rack and smokers tray. The object of the invention is to provide a convenient device for holding chips usually employed in various games played by means of cards and for holding cigars and the ashes thereof, etc.
Preceding a detailed description of my invention, reference is made to the accompanying drawings of which nignre 1 is a top plan view of the device; Fig. 2 is a front elevation thereof, and Fig. 3 is a sectional view on the lire 3-3 of Fig. 2.
The device constructed of metal which is molded into the desired form or may be pressed by means of dies. It consists of a base 1 from which extend in a rearwardly inclined manner semi-circular walls 4: which form pockets for stacks of chips such as are usually employed in various games. T he base forms the bottoms 5, which incline downwardly and rearwardly, as is clearly shown in Fig. 3. The portions of the base cut out as at 6 in order to enable the fingers to place stacks of chips in the several pockets as they become exhausted. The walls .1: forming the pockets are somewhat greater in circumference than the chips, or, in other Specification of Letters Patent.

words, they extend beyond the center of the chips when the latter are in position in order that the chips contained therein may not be accidentally displaced. The base in the rear of the pockets is hollow, and is surrounded by an upturned wall to provide a receptacle for cigar ashes and the bottom of said base is provided with a strip of felt 3 or other suitable material to prevent scratching of the table or other article of furniture upon which the device is placed. To the rear of the metal pockets a curved bracket 7 is attached and this affords a convenient support on which to place a lighted cigar. The base at one end of the de ice is extended to form a shelf 8 upon which may be supported a partially open, common form of match box. This shelf 8 supports a square block 9 which enters one end of the match box and holds the part containing the matches in an elevated position. Two side walls 9 also extend from the shelf 8 and inclose the sides of the match box.
Having described my invention, 1 claim:
A device of the character described comprising a transverse portion, a series of semi-cylindrical walls rising upwardly and inclining rearwardly therefrom throughout the width of said base and arranged side by side, said base portion being integrally united to the walls and the walls themselves being integrally united, the portion of said base in the rear of said walls having an upturned marginal rim throughout its width, and the portion of said base in the front of said walls being inclined from the front margin thereof rearwardly and beneath the walls to form bottoms tnereof which lie at right angles to said walls, and the said front margin being recessed at points opposite the walls, as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I my signature.
AMBROSE H. EECKERS.
