FRANK STANISLAWSKI AND PETER J. STANISLAWSKI, OF GALESVILLE, WISCONSIN'.
FAN.
Application lfiled. May 16, 1917.
To all/whom it may concern.'
Be it ,known that we, FRAN K STANISLAWSKI and PETER J. STANIsLAwsKI, citizens of the United States, residing at Galesville, in the county of Trempealeau, State of l/Visconsm, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fans; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in fans, and particularly to toilet or hand fans.
One object of the present invention is to provide a novel device of this character whereby a greater draft of air will be produced when the fan is moved back and forth in the act of fanning.
Another object is to provide a device of this character which is simple and cheap in construction.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is a front elevation of a fan made in accordance with our invention.
Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same.
Fig. 3 is a horizontal sectional view taken on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 4 is a vertical sectional view taken on the line 4 4 of Fig. 1.
Referring particularly to the accompanying drawing 10 represents the body of the fan, which is formed of a thin sheet of wood or other suitable similar stiff substance. Centrally in the upper edge of the body there is formed a vertically extending portion 11, across the front face of which there is formed a groove 12. In this groove is secured a thin strip of suitable material 13, which projects from the face of the body to catch and agitate the air as the fan is reciprocated in front of the user. the body, and ofthe extension 11, are beveled as shown at 14.
Across the face of the body, below the extension, and having their inner ends terminating on vertical lines coextensive with the sides of the extension 11, are the grooves 15. Secured in these grooves are the strips or blades 16. Extending across the center of the face of the body is a groove 17, in which is secured a strip 1S, this strip being of a length equal to the width of the body. A
It will thus be seen that with a fan of this construction the blades or strips will form additional surfaces which will create a greater draft of air than with the ordinary fiat cardboard or wooden fans now used.
What is claimed is:
1. A toilet fan including a flat body, a. handle connected to the body, one face of the body being formed with a plurality of transverse grooves, and blades secured in said grooves and projecting at angles from the face of the body.
2. A toilet fan including a flat body, a handle carried by the body, and a plurality of draft creating blades extending from one face of the body.
In testimony whereof, we aiiix our signatures in the presence of two witnesses.
FRANK STANISLAVVSKI. PETER J. STANISLAVVSKI. Witnesses:
F. M. STANIsLAwsKI, Mrs. F. M. STANISLAWSKI.
