Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 2'7, 1914..
Application filed June 10, 1914. Serial No. 844,289.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, Jon PRIKLA, a subject of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, residing at Superior, in the county of Douglas and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Attachments for Scissors, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the acompanying drawing.
This invention relates to an attachment for scissors, and has for its object to provide a device in a manner as hereinafter set forth, for detachably connecting a toilet appliance such as a comb and razor blade to the blade of a pair of scissors.
Further objects of the invention are to provide an attachment for the purpose set forth, which is simple in its construction and arrangement, strong, durable, efficient and convenient in its use, readily set up, and comparatively inexpensive to manufacture.
l/Vith the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists of the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter more specifically described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein is shown an embodiment of the invention, but it is to be understood that changes, variations and modifications can be resorted to which come within the scope of the claim hereunto appended.
In the drawings wherein like reference characters denote corresponding parts throughout the several views: Figure 1 is a side elevation of a pair of scissors showing a comb and razor blade connected thereto in accordance with this invention, Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view of the scissors, Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the comb, and Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the razor blade.
Referring to the drawings in detail, 5 and 6 denote the blades of a pair of scissors and which have their shanks pivotally connected together as at 7 and which further have projecting from their shanks the handles 8 and 9. Each of the blades 5 and 6, in proximity to the other blunt edge has each side thereof formed with a longitudinally extending groove 10. The grooves 10 of each blade are arranged in parallelism.
The reference character 11 denotes a comb body which is in the form of a channelshaped member having the bottom 12 of its channel beveled and further having each of its side walls formed with an inwardly extending flange 13. The flanges 13 are spaced from each other to form a passage 14. Projecting from the body 11 is a series of tines or teeth 15. In Fig. 2 of the drawings, the body portion 11 of the comb is shown as slid upon the blade 5 with the flanges 13 seated in the grooves 10, and the beveled wall 12 hearing against the edge 16 of the blade 5.
The reference character 17 denotes a razor blade which is connected to a body portion 18 formed of two oppositely disposed channel-shaped sections, which provide a pair of opposed flanges 19. Each of thescctions of the body portion is furthermore provided with a pair of depending flanges 20, which are fixedly secured to the blade 17 In Fig. 2 of the drawings, the blade 17 is illustrated with its body connected to the blade 6 of the scissors and the flanges 19 of the body por-.
The grooves 10 in each side of each of the blades 5 and 6 extend at an inclination, the inclination of the grooves of each blade be ing inwardly with respect to the free ends of said blades, the grooves 10 are of a length equal to the length of the blades 5 and 6 and are of greater length than the body portion 11 or the body portion 18.
What I claim is The combination with a pairof scissors having one of its blades formed with longitudinal grooves in the sides thereof near the blunt edge, of a toilet implement including a body portion provided with a pair of opposed flanges adapted to seat in said grooves whereby the implement is detachably connected to the blade.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
