IVILLIAM DUNBAR, OF GLOVERSVILLE, NEW YORK.
BRUSHA-DRIP.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 775,526,V dated November 22, 1904.
Application led April 4, 1904. VYSerralNo. 201,503. (No model.)
To (1J/Z 11171/0711/ it 17m/y concern.-
Be it `known that I, WILLIAMDUNBAR, a citizen oi' the United States, residing at Gloversville, in the county of Fulton and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Brush-Drips; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description or' the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention is an improved brush-drip to be used for returning' the drippings from a paste, calcimine, paint, or other brush to a bucket or other suitable receptacle; and it consists in the construction and arrangement of devices hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying' drawings, Figure l is a perspective View oi' a brush-drip embodying my improvements, showing the same attached to one side ot' a bucket, the latter being indicated in dotted lines. Fig. 2 is a sectional view of my improved brush-drip. Fig. 3 is a detail perspective view of the attaching device.
M y improved brush-drip 1 is substantially funnel-shaped and may be either elliptical in form in cross-section, as here shown, or be of any other suitable form. On one side of the same, at or near its lower end, is secured an attaching device 2, which is used for detachably securing the brush-drip to one side of a bucket or o ther suitable vessel. This attaching device is here shown as 'formed from a single piece of spring-wire bent to form rearwardlyconverging arms 3, which are secured to the brush-drip by soldering or by other suitable means, spring hook-arms 4 at the upper ends ot' the said arms 3 to engage the upper side or edge of a bucket or other receptacle, and a yoke 5, which connects the lower ends of the arms 3 together and is angular in form, having offsets 6 where it is joined to the lower ends oi' the arms 3. rI`he yoke 5, is hence caused to project laterally from the lower portion oi' the brush-drip to bear against the upper side of the bucket or other receptacle and causes the spring hook-arms 4 to be firmly braced against the inner side of the bucket or other receptacle.
The brush is placed bristles down in the brush-drip, and the latter serves to return the brush when the same is not in use from soiling floors, carpets, furniture, and other objects.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction and operation oi' the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.)
Various changes in the form, proportion, and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacriiicing any of the advantages of this invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A brush-drip comprising a substantially funnel-shaped body and an attaching device on one side thereof, having spring-arms to engage the upper edge of a bucket or other receptacle and bear on the inner side thereof, and a portion odset from the said side ot' the funnel-shaped body and bearing against the inner side of the said vessel.
2. A brush-drip comprising a substantially funnel-shaped body, and an attaching device on one side thereof, said attaching device being formed from a single piece of spring-wire comprising downwardly-converging arms secured to the body, spring hook-arms at the upper ends of said arms and a yoke connecting the lower ends of Vthe said downwardlyconverging arms together and offset laterally therefrom, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
WILLIAM DUN BAR.
