METAL BAG.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 1, 1918.-
Application filed January 25, 1917. Serial No. 144,465.
' ingis a specification.
bag intended to be used 10-holding and carrying The"invention refers to a built-up metal more especially for semisolid or thick liquid goods, such as, for example, agricultural products, coal and the like.
This new bag is built up by aid of a smooth or corrugated metal sheet adapted to be wound into a cylindrical form, and of two disks or plates, the said roll and the said cover parts being held together by means of an iron bar arranged along the center line of the roll and projecting through the plates.
In order that the invention may be readil understood, the same will be described with reference to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure 1 shows the built-up metal bag, Fig. 2 is a cross sectional view thereof, Figs. 3. 4 and 5 show the various parts used forthe construction of the bag.
Referring to the drawing, 1 is a smooth or corrugated metal sheet intended to be I wound' into a cylindrical shape. The ends of this roll are made to engage suitablysized cylindrical rim portions 3 on disks or plates 2 which close the ends of the roll and prevent a spreading thereof.
The disks or plates 2 are a metal bar 4 which passes along the center held in place by line of the roll and projects through the disks at the center point thereof, this bar being tensioned by means of a nut 5 screwing onto one of the ends of the bar.
The nut 5 and the free end of the bar are each provided with a handle 6 in order that the bag may be readily moved.
What I claim is:
1. An article of the class described com-- prising a cylindrical body portion formed in one piece, flanged heads fitted on the ends of the cylindrical body portion, a rod extending centrally through the heads and cylindrical body portion, means on the rod for securing same in position to lock the heads and cylindrical body portions together, and handles pivotally mounted on the last mentioned means by which the article can be lifted.
2. An article of the class described comprising a corrugated cylindrical body portion, flanged heads fitted on the ends of the corrugated cylindrical body portion, a rod extending centrally through the heads and the body portion, one end of the rod having an eye and the opposite end of the rod being threaded,.anut engaging the threaded end of the rod, a handle pivoted to the nut, and a handle pivoted in the eye. I In testimony whereof I have signed my name in the presence of two subscribing witnesses the 26th day of December 1916.
