GARRETT C. MASON, 0F DOS PALOS, CALIFORNIA.
NECKTIE-FORM.
Application filed April 3, 1916.
.T 0 all whom it may concern lie it known that I, GARRETT C. MASON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Dos Palos, in the county of Merced and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in NecktieForms, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved form of neck-tie holder, which has for its principal object the construction of a simple and etlicient form over which the tie may be placed to form a neat and natural appearing knot.
Another object of my invention is to so construct the form that it is secured to the collar button in such a manner that there is no danger of it dropping out of position.
Still another object of the invention is to construct the form of a single sheet metal stamping. I
lVith these and other objects in view my invention consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts herein illustrated and more particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
Reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification,
Figure l is a view in front elevation show ing my improved form with the tie in position thereon.
Fig' 2 is a view in perspective showing the rear of the form.
Fig. 3 is a top plan view.
Fig. 4 is a view in rear elevation.
Fig. 5 is a view in horizontal section taken just below the wings of the form.
Fig. 6 is a view in section on the line 66, Fig. 4.
Referring to corresponding parts in the several views by the same numerals of reference, 1 denotes the front portion of a form consisting of the elongated convex plate 2, on. the top portion of which is formed the wings 3. These wings extend laterally and rearwardly to conform to the curvature of the collar and are extended slightly upward in order to contact with the inside of the collar fold. The rear portion of the form, is denoted by 4:, and is also slightly convexed, as shown at 5, and provided with a central opening 6, below which is a converging slot 7 Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Sept. 25, 1917.

communicating with the hole 6 through the contracted passageway '8. This portion ti: is formed integrally with the front portion 2, is bent along the top edge of the latter, and has the outer edges 9 crimped around the sides of the front portion 2.
In use the approximate center of the tie is placed over the front portion 2, and the two ends carried to the back of the form, then folded upwardly and around the top of the form and then tucked down between the con tral portion of the tie and front of the form 2, as shown in Fig. 1. The form is then placed in position by inserting the wings 3 between the folds of the collar and entering the hole 6 over the collar button, thus securely holding it in position.
From this description it will be apparent that I have provided a device on which a tie may be formed to give a neat and natural appearing knot, and which is securely held in position in the collar.
Vv hile I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention it will be understood that minor changes in detail and form within the scope of the claims be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention.
lVhat I claim and wish to cover by Letters Patent is:
1. A necktie form comprising a concavoconvex front plate provided with laterally extended curved wings shaped to be passed beneath a collar, and an oppositely curved concavo-convex rear plate integrally connected with the front plate at the top and side edges, said rear plate having a button engaging slot.
2. A. necktie form comprising a sheet metal plate folded to provide front and rear plates, said plates being of concave-convex form and of opposite curvature, the side edges of one of said plates being folded over the contiguous edges of the other plate, the front plate having laterally extended curved wings shaped to be passed beneath a collar, the rear plate having a button-engaging slot.
In testimony whereof I a'l'lix my signature.
GARRETT C. MASON.
