Description

F. MITCHELL.
PLATE LIFTER- 'APPLICATION FII.ED FEB- 28: I9l.
From the foregoing V description, it is 7 thought to be obviousthzit a lifter constructed in a ccord ance with my invention is of an extremely simple and comparatively inexpensive nature and is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with wl1ich it may be assembled, and it will also be obvions, that my invention is susceptible of some change and modilication without material departure from the principles and spirit thereof and for this reason I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice, except as hereinafter claimed.
I claim: r
1. A device of the character described compriSingtwo handle members in crossed relation, means for pivotally connecting the crossed portions of the handles, one end portion of the handle being provided with spaced extensions adapted to underlie a plate, the adjacent end portions of the second handle being provided with arms adapted to overlie the rim portionof a plate or the like and terminating in angnlar extensions disposed toward the extensions of the first handle member, and a third handle member mounted intermediate its length for -pivotal movement and having an end portion interposed between the extensions of the first named handles and adapted to engage beneath the rim of the plate.
2. A device of the character described comprising two handle members in crossed relation, means for pivotally connecting the crossed portions of the handles, one end portion of the handle being, provided with spaced extensions adapted to nnderlie a plate, the adjacent end portions of the sec-.
ond handle being provided with arms adapted to overlie the rim portion of a plate or the like and terminating in angnlar extensions disposed toward the extensions Of the first handle member, and a third handle member mounted intermediate its length for topteu of t11111 patent may be,obtaine for pivotal movement' and having an end portion interposed between the extensions of the. first named handles and adapted to engage beneath the rim of the plate, said third named handle being movable about the same pivotal point as the first two handle mem- 8. device of the character described comprising two handle members in crossed relation, each Of said handle .members being formed of a single lengthof material returned upon itself and having. the major portion of the strands -tvviste d one about the other, the strands of one of the members being coiled to aHr'ord transversely spaced eyes, and a twisted portion of the second handle member being separated to aord loops adapted to be interposed between the eyes of the rst named handle member, a pivot pin disposed through the eyes, of the handle members, the free end portions of the strands of one of the handle members being indiverging relation and provided with extensions adapted to underlie a plate, the free extremities of the second handle member being also provided with diverging arms adapted to overlie the rim portion of a plate andterminating in extensions disposecl toward the extensions of the first named handle, and a third handlemeniber pivotally d engaged intermediate its length with the pin, an end portion of said third handle member extending between. the diverging arms of the first named handle member and adapted to underlie the rim portion ofa plate.
1. A device of the character described comprising three handle members pivotally connected ata common point, two of said handle members being in crossed relation,
one of Said crossed handle members having f:
an end portion adapted to, underlie a plate,-
the adjacent end portion ofthe second crossed handle member being adapted to overlie the rim portion of a plate" and the adjacent endportion of the third handle member being also adapted to uinderlie the rnh portion of a plate. V
