Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Aug. 21, 1917.
Application filed .Tannary26, 1916. Serial No. 74,398.
To all whom-it may concern: I
Be it known that I, CHARLES KLEPPER, a
citizen of the United States, residing at San Francisco, in the county of San Francisco and State of Cal1forn1a,have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hair- Dresslng Frames; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art towhich 1t appertains to make and use the same.
This invention has for its primary object to provlde an eflicient and inexpens ve halr dressing frame or foundation particularly claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of the hair dressing frame, and
Fig. 2 represents an enlarged fragmental front elevation thereof.
Referring to the drawing in detail, wherein similar reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, the numeral 5 indicates generally the base loop of the hair frame, the free ends of which are movable relatively and connected by a loop 8 consisting of two side members which are bowed or curved in such manner that they are crossed, as clearly illustrated in Fig. 1, when the free ends of the main or base loop 5 are connected.
Adjacent the point of juncture of one side of the loop 8 with the adjacent end of the ber of the loop 8 is engaged under the remain or base loop 5 the Wire or other ma terial from which. the hair dressing form is constructed is bent to define a substantially U-shaped retaining loop 10 adapted to receive the other side member of the loop 8, whereby the free ends of the base loop are detachably connected. The base loop 5 is formed of iresilient material so as to normally retain the free ends thereof sprung apart, and thus when one side memtaining 100 10 the band is resiliently retained in contracted condition.
The curved'bracing member 6 is secured at diametrically opposed points to the base loop 5 between the free ends and central portion of the latter, and the central portion thereof is looped, as indicated at 6*, about the looped'inner end 9 of an auxiliary bracing member 7 which latter is an extended .part of the wire, or other material forming the base loop 5, and is designed to reinforce the brace 6 and retain the latter in a predetermined position with relation to the base loop 5. The looped end 9 of the auxiliary bracing member receives and anchors the closed end of the loop 8. The extreme inner end of the auxiliary bracing member 7 is turned back upon the coiled portion 6 of the curved member 6, as indicated at 7, thereby forming a ri 'd connection between the members 6 and? In u se,the hair dressing frame is placed in any desired position upon the head of the wearer and the strands of hair are positioned through the loop 8 and the ends of base loop 5 are subsequently connected by engaging the bight portion 11 at one end thereof in the loop 10 at the opposite end. The frictional engagement of the sides of the loop 8 prevent accidental displacement of the hair dressing frame while thehair is being dressed, and, as will be understood, the frame is entirely concealed from view by the coils of hair placed thereon, while at the same time the coiled hair is retained in I the scalp.
What is claimed is: a
In a hair dressing frame, a base loop of semi-circular sections having certain of the ends twisted together, a hair-receiving loop connecting the other ends of the base loop,
means detachably connectingthe free ends of the base and hair-receiving, loops, a curved bracing member connectedat its opposite ends with the base loop, an auxiliary bracing member integrally connected at one end to said base loop, a loop integrally connected with the inner extremity of the auxiliary bracing member receiving and anchoring the hair-recelving loop, and a loop formed centrally of the curved bracing In testimony whereof I aflix my signature member recelvlng and closing the loop of 111 presence of two wltnesses.
the auxiliary bracing member said auxilr iary vbracing member having its extreme end. CHARLES IXLEPPER" 5 turned back over the loop of the curved WVitnesses:
bracing member to rlgidly connect the two 'THOS. M. MARS, bracing members.-, j v r F. W. VVITT.
