p have invented certain Improvement in EX- tension Lounge,77 of which the following is a specication.
Nature and Object of the Invention.
The improvement of an extension lounge 7 embodied in my invention relates to the construction of the same, in such a manner that when lthe main body or visible seat of the lounge (when elosed)'is opened or extended, a second seat, which is sunk underneath the same, is discovered, which can be raised to the same height of the extended portion, thus doubling the width of the lounge.

Fig. 2 is a section of the same, showing the respective situation of the rear frame when raised, and also (in dotted outline) when sunk. Fig. 3 is an end view of the rear frame, together with the brace supporting the same, when raised.

is the rear or movable frame, which is sunk below when the lounge is closed, and which may be raised by aid of straps I and J, as follows: Strap I is raised perpendicular until brace C slides down upon its hinges and rests solidlyr on the brace l); then strap J is also lifted to the height ofthe foot-rail K, and then it is drawn downward a few inches, so that the foot end rests on said foot-rail. The rear frame is sunk again by drawing the strap I in a slight angle toward the side of the head-rest, when the foot-end will slip down and the main brace O will turn upon its hinges, thus sinking the whole ofthe rear frame. The covering of the loungemay consist of a spring mattress, plain mattress bed, or in any other manner desirable.
