Referring to the construction shown in the first group of figures, thesta-tionary plane 1 of the bellows has the usua l reed 2 that communicates with a sound box 3Ze1id with she chamber 4 of the bellows. The
sound box 3 has an aperture 5 through which ihesounds issue. The means for articulating the sound comprises an annular lip 6 extending around the aperture, 5, and a, plii reality of disks or valves j which are passed through the lip' as the bellows is compressed, whereby the sound from the reed will be articulated. The disks 7 are mounted on a,
stem- 8 -which is fastened to the movable glue 9 of the bellows. Normally the disks 8:5

If desired, the disks 7 may have resilient edges to pass through the aperture 5, in which case the resilient lip 6 is not required.
Simultaneously with the uttering of the word "ma-ma the arms of the doll will be elevated to an appealing position. For this purpose the arms 10 are connected together by 3. Wire frame or yoke 11 mounted to swing in bearing elements 12 on the doll.
The center of the yoke has an arm 13 formed thereon, which is adapted to be engaged by l a. lever 14, the free' end 15 of whichhas a wiping engagement under the Win13. On

When the pre sure on the bellows is removed the arms return to normal position. as does also the lever 14. The hinge to of the lever is shown as a piece of leather that returns the lever to normal position when the member 16 moves a way from the lever by the expansion f the bellows.
In the form of the souml-producing device shown in Figs. 7 to h. the device comprises a box 20 which has its open side closed v a flexible diaphragm :21. Connected with the diaphragm is a stem 2; on which are the valves or dishs 2: that pass through the aperture 2-1 of the sound box 25 to cause the articulation of the sounds. The stem is confined to a rectilinear rcciprocatory motion by being guided in a bearing 26. The diaphragm is held outwardl v by. a helical spring 27 suitably arranged within the box. The diaphragm is shown in its normal position, Fig. 8, but when it is compressed air is forced out of the box through the. reed. whereby the sound is produced, such sound being interrupted by the disks 23 passing through the aperture in the sound box. lhe disks may have resilient edges 28 to take the place of the resilient lip 6 shown in Figs. 3 to 6 inclusive.
From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings. the advantages of the construction and method of operation will be readily understood by those skilled in the art to which the invention appertains, and while I have described the principle of (ll)Ql't?l0ll together with the device which I nowconsider to be the best embodiment. thereof, I desire to have it understood that the device shown is merely illustrative and that such changes may be made when desired as fall within the scope of the. appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. A sound producing device comprising a sounding device, an air chamber having means comprising an apcrt1n-c.a1ul valves movable through the aperture to successiu-ly close and open the same.
2. In a sound producing device, a sounding clement. an air chamber having an aperture through which sounds issue. and means for opening and clo ing the aperture. said a stem movable through the aperture and having spaced disks to close. and open the aperture.
.3. in a sound producing device. a sounding clement. an air chamber having an aperture through which ounds issue. and means for opening and closing the aperture, said means comprising a stem nunable through the aperture and Inn ing spaced disks to close and open the aperture. said aperture having a resilient lip which snugly hugs the disks in passing through the aperture.
4. sound producing device comprising a sounding clement. an air chamlaa' having an apcrtured part. and a valve part. said parts being relatively movable. ne part having resilient means for ctl'ecting a stoppage of sound and also one clement including spaced sound stopping portions.

6. A doll including movable arms. a frame connected with the arms and having a member. a sexual-producing device including a relatively movable part. a. lever mounted on the movable part; of the sound-producing device. and having a wiping action with the said member. and an elementengaged with the fixed part of the souml-producing device and extending through the movable part for engaging with the lever. whereby the element, lever and member form a motionnmltiplying means between the movable part. of the sound-producing device and the arms oi the doll.
