WILLIAM G. DEVLIN, OF ARCATA, CALIFORNIA, ASSIGNOR TO GEORGIE A.'DEVLI1\T, OI!
ARCATA, CALIFORNIA.
GUSPIDOR HOLDER AND LIFTER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 27, 1917..
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM G. DEVLIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Arcata, in the county of Humboldt and State of California, have invented a new and useful Guspidor Holder and Lifter, of which the following is a specification.
The object of the invention is to provide a simple, inexpensive and efficient means for holding and lifting cuspidors, to facilitate the movement of the same from one place to another without lifting and to pre vent the accidental overturning of a ouspidor.
Further objects of the invention will appear as the description proceeds, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, can be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a side view of a holder and lifter constructed in accordance with the p sectional shape to suit the conditions of use, matters of taste and the shape of the cuspidor 11, and it is preferably provided with casters 12 whereby the movement of the device, propelled by foot or otherwise is facilitated. Seated within this holder is a lifting device having the bottom -13. and preferably arcuate end walls 141 engaged at their upper edges by a ring 15 having the finger holds or loops 16 which project above the plane of the upper edge of the receptacle so that they may be grasped with facility in lifting the cuspidor out of the receptacle. The cuspidor is adapted to be seated in the lifting device with the arcuate end walls of the latter grasping the same so as to prevent accidental displacement.
Below the bottom bars or rests 17 of the holder the side wall thereof is extended to form a concealing flange 18, the lower edge of which is located close to the plane of the fioor or supportingv surface, so as to minimize the risk of tilting in the movement of the holder from one place or another.
What is claimed is '1. A device of the class described having a receptacle comprising side walls, transverse rest bars and a flange depending below the plane of said rest bars, casters upon which the rest barsare mounted, the casters having their bearing surfaces below the plane of the lower edge of said flange, a lifting device removably seated in the receptacle above said rest bars and provided with finger holds or loops extending above the plane of the upper edge of said receptacle.
2. A device of the class described having a receptacle, and a cuspidor lifting device removably seated in the receptacle and provided with arcuate end walls connected by a bottom forsupporting a cuspidor, said lifting device also having at its upper edge a ring provided with upstanding loops.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto aflixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
