WTTED STATE PATENT ERNEST RIEBE, OF NEVT YORK, N. Y.
HOLDER FOR TABLEWARE.
Application filed November 14, 1916.
To all whom itmag concern:
Be it known that I, ERNEST RIEBE, a citizen of the United States, and resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, county and State of New York,'have invented certain new anduseful Improvements in Holders for Tableware, of which the following is a description.
My invention relates to soft fabric holders for tableware and particularly to that type of holder wherein the knives, forks, spoons, etc., are readily inserted or withdrawn, but nevertheless amply protected from the gases of the atmosphere which would tend to tarnish the silver.
The objects of my invention are to provide a simple, compact fabric holder having individual compartments for the articles,
and which will permit their easy insertion and withdrawal, and which will effectively protect them from wear by rubbing contact with each other.
I accomplish these objects by an improved device, the preferred form of which is shown in the accompanying drawings.
Referring to the drawings, Figure-1 shows a side view of the holder whenempty and closed; Fig. 2 shows a side view of the holder when empty and expanded to receive the tableware to be stored; Fig. 3 shows a front view of the holder with a spoon inserted therein; Fig. 4 shows a top view of the holder as in Fig. 2.
The holder is preferably constructed of flannel or other suitable soft material, and comprises a number of compartments 2, each of which is adapted to receive an article of tableware, for example, a teaspoon 3. The end compartments have side extensions 4 Specification of Letters Yatent.

of compartments, but each compartment has a flaring opening at the top, when expanded, so that the articles may readily be inserted. Also, when in position the articles are largely protected against blows or impacts by the extending edges 9 which project on each side of the device a considerable distance beyond the line of the outer edge of the separate compartments.
WVhile I have shown but one modification of my invention, I do not wish to limit myself to the exact form disclosed, for it will be obvious to those experienced in the art that many modifications may be made with out departing from the spirit of theinvention.
lVha-t I claim is:
A-holder of the kind described, constructed of soft material, comprising a plurality of adjacent complete compartments secured to each other near their side edges, and adapted to receive articles to be stored therein, the end compartments of said holder each having an extending free side adapted to be detachably fastened to the opposite free side and to effect the covering of all of the said compartments.
