To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, OLGA BERGHORN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Jersey City Heights, Jersey City, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Key-Dresses, of which the following is a specification.

The object of the invention is to provide a means for enabling women to carry keys in a safe and sightly manner. The device, which I call a key dress, comprises a small curtain-like inclosure of ornamental flexible material of a size to accommodate a key, the inclosure being open at the bottom and provided at the top with apertured plates or frame members, whereby the device may be worn or carried upon a chain, ribbon or ring, with the key suspended and concealed in condition for instant use.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of one form of the device;

Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same, with the key therein sustained by a chain or suspension element;

Fig. 3 is a vertical section taken at right angles to Fig. 2;

Fig. 4: is a plan view of another form, spread out fiat and with the top plates tilted away from each other for clearness of illustration; and

Fig. 5 is a side elevation of this form as it hangs when in use.

The drawing, Figs. 1 to 3, shows a tubular pocket or curtain 1 made of metal mesh fabric and of approximately a size to accommodate a key. The top links at two opposite sides of this curtain are engaged with small openings in two fiat plates 2 of suitable form and appearance, having apertures 3 for the passage of a chain 4:, by which the device is suspended. In practice the key is placed within the device through the mouth 5 between the plates, and the chain or other suspension element is passed through the opening in its head. The curtain may be constructed of other kinds of flexible and ornamental material,

though mesh fabric is desirable because of its appearance, making it suitable, for example, for a chatelaine, and also because its weight enables it to be shaken-back by a quick movement of the hand to expose the part of the key which is inserted in the lock. The lower part of the key dress may be slit or indented from the bottom, as indicated by the fringe 6, to facilitate the col lapsing of the wall when the key is used.

Figs. 4 and 5 illustrate another form, wherein the curtain 1 is made of a flat piece of fabric, having a central mouth opening 5 to the sides of which the plates 2 are secured. When the curtain is suspended from these plates it hangs in the manner shown in Fig. 5. This form of curtain is readily reversed by merely inverting the plates, when the curtain falls outward and backward by its own weight exposing all of the key but the portion of the head between the plates.

It will be understood that the invention may take other forms and that the sizes may be appropriately varied for keys of difi'erent kinds. If desired the device may be constructed to accommodate more than one key.
