To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, dorm T. EVANS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hubbard, in the county of Trumbull and State of Ohio, have invented new and useful Tmprovements in Condiment-Holders, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to condiment holders and it consists in the novel features hereinafter described and claimed.

An object of the invention is to provide in a unitary device means for holding a plurality of condiments of different characters, as for instance pepper and salt, there being provided upon the cap of the holder, which is provided with two sets of perforations, a turnable disk also having two sets of perforations, the perforations in the disk corresponding with those in the cap. The perforations in the disk are so arranged with relation to the perforations in the cap that when the perforations in the disk are brought into registration with the perforations in the cap which lead into the salt compartment, the perforations in the cap which lead into the pepper compartment are closed by the solid portions of the disk, and vice versa.

The condiment holder includes a body 1 which is substantially cylindrical and which is closed at one end by a bottom 2. The said body 1 is provided at its upper edge with a screw thread 3. A tube 4 is concentrically fixed with relation to the sides of the body 1 upon the bottom 2 and the said tube is closed at its lower end by the said bottom. The upper end of the tube 4 is open. A cap 5 is provided'with a threaded flange 6 which is adapted to engage the screw thread 3 at the upper portion of the body 1. The cap 5 is provided with two sets of perforations 7 and 8. The set of perforations 7 is located above the space between the sides of the tube 1 and the set of perforations S is located above the space between the exterior of the tube 1 and the inner surface of the body 1. The space within the tube 4 constitutes a compartmentadapted to retain pepper and the space between the exterior of the tube i and the inner surface of the body 1 constitutesa com )artment adapted to contain salt. The cap 5 is provided at its under side with an annular flange 9 which is adapted to snugly receive the upper portion of the tube 4 when the cap 5 is applied to the upper end of the body 1.

A disk 10 is turnably mounted upon the cap 5 for limited turning movement. The disk 10 is provided at its edge with spaced ears 11 which receive between them a lug 12 mounted upon the cap 5. The space between the ears 11 is longer than the lug 12, consequently the disk 10 may turn upon the cap but its turning movement is limited by the said ears and lug. The disk 10 is proided with two sets of perforations 13 and l t. The perforations 13 are somewhat smaller than the perforations 1% and the perforations 13 correspond in number with the perforations 7, while the perforations 1% correspond in number with the perforations 3. The perforations of the two parts are so arranged that when the perforations 13 are in register with the perforations 7, the perforations 8 are closed by the solid portions of the disk 10 between the perforations 14.

When this is the case the holder may be turned to an inverted'position and the pepper from the compartment in the tube 4 may be poured from the holder through the registering perforations 7 and 13, but at this time the salt cannot pour from the holder for the reason that the perforations 8 are closed. On the other hand, when the disk 10 is .turned so that the perforations 14, are

brought into register with the perforations 8, the perforations 7 are closed and the salt may pour from the holder through the registering perforations, 1 1 and 8.

From the above description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, it will be seen that a condiment holder of simple and durable structure is provided and that the holder may contain two different condiments and the holderis provided with means for retaining one condiment while the other is being poured from the same. T herefore, when it is desired to use either the salt or the pepper, it is not necessary ,to provide separate holder for the same, but both condiments may be placed in the same holder and the said condiment may be used separately as desired and as hereinbefore eX- plained.

spaced ears mounted upon the disk and extending around and under the edge portion of the cap, and a lug mounted 011 the cap and extending around and over the edge of the disk and lying between two of the ears, the space between the ears being longer than the circumferential length of the lug, the free in presence of two Witnesses.
