To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, SARAH ANDERSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ridgewood, in the county of Bergen and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Holders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawmgs.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in holders and more particularly to a directory holder which is used particularly for holding telephone directories; the main object of the invention being the provision of a holder of the above character whereby a telephone directory can be readily suspended in a convenient place so that the same may be readily accessible for use.

Another object of the present invention being the provision of a directory holder of the above character which will possess ad vantages in points of efficiency and durability, is inexpensive to manufacture and, at the same time, is simple in construction and operation.

With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter referred to and more particularly pointed out in the specification and claim.

In carrying out my invention, I provide a supporting bar or rod 1, the ends of which are threaded, as shown at 2 and removably mounted upon each end thereof, are the nuts 3. The nuts 3 are provided in their periphery with a central channel 4 forming spaced flanges 5. The supporting rod 1 1s suspended by means of a wire hanger, the ends of which are crossed to form the loop 6 which is adapted to engage over a supporting nail or hook, whereby the directory may be suspended in a convenient place and to form divergently extended somewhat resilient legs.

are looped in the channels 4 and held against lateral movement by means of the flanges 5. It wlll be apparent from the foregoing, that the nuts 3 may be readily removed or replaced. The directory which is indicated by the numeral 6 is provided at one corner with an opening 7 adapted for the reception of the supporting rod to support the directory 6. Thus it will be apparent that I have provided a simple and durable holder of the class described whereby a telephone directory'or other similar device can be readily suspended from any convenient place, whereby the same may be readily accessible for use. It will also be apparent that the same may be readily removed or replaced upon the rod 1 by removing either of the nuts 3. It will also be apparent that the device is extremely simple in its construction and can be manufactured and placed upon the market at a comparatively low cost.

While I have shown and described the preferred form of my invention, it will be obvious that various changes in the details of construction and in the proportions may be resorted to for successfully carrying my invention into practice, without sacrificing any of the novel features or departing from the scope of the appended claim.

Having thus described this invention, what I claim is The combination with a holder including a supporting bar, of a plurality of cards through the upper ends of which the bar is loosely passed, removable nuts threaded upon each end of the bar and preventing accidental detachment of the cards from the bar, each of said nuts being formed with a circular peripheral groove, and a hanger bent to form yieldable divergent legs, the ends of said legs being bent to form eyes disposed within said grooves on the nuts, whereby to permit rotation of the nuts to permit detachment or attachment of the nuts upon the bar without detaching 'the hanger therefrom.
