INVflN QR M wR H 6) H15 PfFF ORNEY MAX HIRSGH, 0F PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
RETAINING-STRAP FOR BABY-COACHES.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 12, 1916.
Application filed July 15, 1915. Serial No. 39,982.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, MAX HIRsCI-I, a citizen of the United States, residing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented certain Improvements in Retaining-Straps for Baby-Coaches, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a neat and compact connection between the band which extends across a baby coach in front of the seat and the connecting strap and buckle at the end of said band, an object which I attain in the manner hereinafter set forth, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure l is a perspective View showing, detached from one another, the underside of one end of said band, of the strap and buckle, and of the retaining loop for the latter; Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section on a larger scale than Fig. 1 showing these parts connected together, and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the strip which forms the buckle retaining loop.
In Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawing, 1 represents one end portion of the band with which a baby coach is ordinarily equipped for the purpose of preventing the occupant of the coach from falling off the seat, and 2 represents the strap and 3 the buckle whereby said end 1 of the band is connected to the ring or other fixture at one side of the coach. These parts, however, are similar to those ordinarily employed and form no part of my invention, the latter relating to the buckle-retaining loop 4 and to the means whereby said loop and the fixed end of the buckle-engaging strap 2 are secured to the end of the band 1.
The buckle-retaining loop consists of a strip 5, as shown in Fig. 3, this strip having in it a central longitudinal slot 6, for the reception of the tongue of the buckle, and, between said central slot 6 and one end of the strip 5, a transverse slot 7 through which is passed the end of the strap 2, the latter being disposed between the under side of the band 1 and the under portion of the loop I and being secured, with the latter, to the band 1, as shown in Fig. 2, some of the stitches 8 whereby the loop is secured to the band. By this means the end of the strap 2 is hidden and a neat finish is provided at the end of the band 1 without in any way affecting the secure retention of the various parts.
I claim:
The combination of a retaining band, buckle, and buckle-engaging strap, with a bucklearetaining loop having therein a slot for the reception of the buckle tongue and a slot through which the buckle-engaging strap is passed, said loop embracing the end of the band, the fixed end of the buckle-engaging strap being located between the under side of the band and the lower member of the loop, and said strap then passing through the slot in said lower member of the loop and thence forwardly and back beneath the buckle and into engagement with the tongue of said buckle, and means for securing the loop to both the fixed end of the strap and to the band.
In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
MAX HIRSCH.
