MILK-STOOL.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented ne i, mic.
Application filed April 12, 1916. Serial No. 90,685.
To all whom it may concern 3e it known that I, HANNA W. PETERS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Maplcton, in the county of Blue Earth and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Milk- St-ools; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to a new and use ful improvement in a milk stool and one of its objects is the provision of a device of this character, which shall be simple, durable and eiticient, and which may be manufactured and sold at a comparatively low cost.
Another object of this invention is to pro vide a novel means of detachably supporting a bucket to one end of the stool and adjacent a cows udder, to eliminate the necessity of holding the bucket between the knees, which is now the usual custom when milking cows.
A further object of this invention is to provide a supporting ring detachably secured to the stool for supporting the upper end of the bucket and a tray adjustably secured to the ring for receiving and supporting the lower end of the bucket.
A still further object of this invention is to provide a novel means of securing the ring to the stool, whereby the tray will be adjustably secured to the ring to allow the tray to be adjusted upwardly and downwardly to accommodate buckets of various heights.
l Vith these and other objects in view as will become more apparent as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of a milk stool, constructed in accordance with my invention, Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the same, and Fig. 3 is a detail view partly in section, illustrating the means of attaching the ring and the tray to the stool.
Referring in detail to the drawing, the numeral 1 indicates a seat, having sockets 2 secured to the under side thereof to receive legs 3 and which are secured therein by set screws 4, providing a milking stool to which my invention is applied.
A ring 5, having an attaching base 6 formed thereon is provided with a longitudinally extending bore 7, which extends through the ring 5 to receive a bolt 8. The attaching base 6 is provided with a vertically extending aperture 9 which intersects with the longitudinally extending bore 7 to receive a supporting bar 10, having a plurality of openings 11, any one of which is adapted to be brought into registration with the longitudinally extending bore 7, so that the bolt 8 may be passed through the supporting bar 10. Secured to the lower end of the supporting bar 10, is a circular tray 12, having an angular flange 13 formed thereon to receive and support the lower end of a bucket 14.
One end of the seat 1 is recessed to receive an internally screw-threaded boxing 15 to receive the end of the bolt 8, to detachably secure my invention to the stool. Thus it will be noted by removing the bolt 8 from the boxing 15 and the base 6, the supporting bar 10 may be adjusted upwardly and downwardly within the vertically extendingopening 9 to regulate the space between the tray 12 and the ring 5 to accommodate buckets of various heights.
While I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it will be understood that minor changes in construction, combination and arrangement of parts may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is 1. A milk stool comprising a ring, an attaching base formed on said ring, said base provided with a longitudinally extending bore and a vertically extending slot adapted to intersect the longitudinal bore, a vertically extending supporting bar provided with a plurality of openings received by said vertically extending aperture, a bolt extending through the longitudinal extending bore and the vertically extending supporting bar, means for securing the end of the bolt to a stool, and a tray secured to the lower end of the supporting bar for receiving and supporting the lower end of a bucket positioned within the ring.
formed on said tray for receiving the lower 10 end of a bucket to support said bucket With in the ring.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
HANNA W. PETERS. WVitnesses C. C oEIoL'r, V. P. BOREHEAT.
