ANGELO GERACI, F ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND.
CHAIR ATTACHMENT.
Application filed July 18, 1912.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ANGELO Gnu-x01, a citizen of the United States, residing at Annapolis, in the county of Anne Arundel and State of Maryland, have invented new and useful Improvements in Chair Attachments, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in seat or chair attachments for chairs such as barber's chairs.
The main object of my invention is to provide a stool or chair attachment for a stationary barbers chair whereby the neces sity of employing a revolving chair may be avoided.
The further object of my invention is to provide a chair or stool which is connected to a barbers chair, preferably removably, which will permit the stool to be adjusted relatively to the chair.
Specifically an object of the invention is to provide a stool or chair which may be swung in a horizontal plane relatively to a barbers chair.
A further specific object of the invention is to provide means whereby the stool or chair may be adjusted laterally with respect to the barbers chair.
The preferred embodiment of my invention is hereinafterdescribed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
In these drawings;l*igure 1 is a side view in elevation. Fig. 2 is a plan view looking downward from the plane of line 22 of Fig. 1, and illustrating by dotted lines one position to which the chair or stool may be swung. 7
Referring to the drawings, 1 designates a fragmentary portion of a fixed or stationary chair, such as a barbers chair. To the chair 1 is attached a bracket having a vertical pin 2 which is round in cross-section. From the pin 2 is supported the stool attachment involving my invention. The stool comprises legs 3, connected by a brace 4 adjacent their lower ends and connected by a top brace 5. The legs 3 are preferably mounted upon suitable rollers 6. To the top brace 5 is connected a plate or the like 7, having a central opening provided with screw-threads.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 4, 1916.
Serial No. 710,239.
The numeral 8 designates a seat which is vertically adjustable relatively to the legs 3 and is supported from a screw 9 which engages and works on the screw-threads of the plate 7. Two of the-legs 3 have attached thereto, suitable brackets such as 10.
Numeral 11 designates a hollow cylinder or tube which is provided with a tang 12 which extends between the brackets and is adjustably secured thereto by means of a bolt or rivet 13. In the cylinder 11 is slidably mounted a rod 14; which is provided with an enlarged head 15. Said rod 14: is held within the cylinder 11 by means of a removable cap 16 having an opening through which the rod 14 extends, and which opening is of such size as to prevent the passage of head therethrough. Said rod 141 has attached at its end a journal or sleeve 17 which engages the pin 2. By means of the support of the stool from the pin 2 by the journal 17 rod 1% and cylinder 11, the stool member may be swung in a horizontal plane and around the chair 1. Also by means of the loose connection of the journal 17 with the rod, the stool may be readily detached from the chair 1. The sliding connection of the rod 14 with the cylinder 11, permits the stool to be adjusted to various distances away from the chair 1.
It is clear that changes in the details of construction of my device may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is In a device of the character described a major chair, an auxiliary chair movable with respect to said major chair, a pivot bracket carried by one of said chairs, hinge ears connected with the outer of said chairs, a rod pivotally connected with said pivot bracket for horizontal swinging movement, and a sleeve pivotally connected with said hinge ears for vertical pivotal movement, said sleeve being slidably and rotatably mounted upon said rod.
ANGELO GERACI.
