TOILET DEVICE.

Be it known that we, ROBERT TANNEN- BAUMflnd PETER REICHARDT, subjects of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, and residents of Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Toilet Devices, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to'the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification.

Our invention relates to a toilet device for dressing the hair, and has for its object the provision of such a device which may be conveniently and unobtrusively carried upon the person.

1t frequently happens that a person on coming indoors desires to rearrange his hair, 1

and this, when such, personis a guest, he is not prepared to do by reason of not having available the necessary toilet articles. Therefore the aim of our invention is to provide the necessary articles in such arrangement that they may be conveniently carried in the hat of the person desiring their use, the same being so secured therein that they may be readily positioned for use without unnecessary display.

The numeral 1 indicates a mans Derby hat, the same being provided with the usual sweat band 2. Nhile we have illustrated in the drawings our new device as attached to a mans derby, it will be understood that the same might, in the same manner be attached to a soft hat or to certain of the hats worn by women.

Our toilet device consists of a mirror 3 of glass or highly polished metal, to which are. attached, on one side, parallel arms 1 and on the opposite side an arm 5. The arms 4: and 5 are preferably of some springy material as of steel or celluloid, and they are of such length that, when the mirror is centrally located inside the hat, the arms will extend laterally under the sweat band and abut against the same at its attachment to the lower edge of the crown. Being of flexible construction, the arms will conform to the curvature of the crown and will, as will Specification of Letters Patent.

While normally the attachment of the device by means of the arms 1 and 5 as above described will be sufficient and desirable, yet, in certain cases it may be preferable to secure the mirror 3 directly to the crown of the hat, thus securing the same independently of the arms, so that if desired the arm 5 may be dispensed with, and for such direct attachment we provide on the mirror gripping pins 9 and 10, as illustrated in Figs. 4: and 5. On two lugs 11 on the back of the mirror under the back covering 12 thereof, are pieces of spring wire*13, one wire being secured to eachlug by twisting it around the lug, and the ends of said wires are sharpened to form the pins 9 and 10. The wires are of such length that the pins lie near the outer circumference of the mirror and the points thereof are directed substantially parallel to said circumference, the pins 9 and 10, however, being opposed. The pins 9 are held in fixed position by the back covering of the mirror and the pinsxlO are adapted to work in slots 14 in said covering. In attaching the mirror by means of the pins, it is first rested in the crownof the hat and then turned so that the pins 10 engaging are forced back against the tension of the spring to approximately the positions shown in broken lines in Fig. 4:,the pins 9 meanwhile sliding over the surface of the felt. Having thus described our invention, What We claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

l. A toilet device comprising a mirror, arms for securing said mirror inside the crown of a hat, a comb, and means for slidably mounting said comb on said arms whereby said comb may be moved into position for use Without removing the same from said arms.
