JOHN S. JAMES, OF URBANA, ILLINOIS.
CUE-GUIDE.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Aug. 10, 1915.
Application filed April 5, 1915. Serial No. 19,214.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN S. JAMES, citizen of the United States, residing at Urbana, in the county of Champaign and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cue-Guides, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to guides for cues employed in billiards, pool and similar games, and its object is to provide a simple and efiicient device of this kind to be worn on the players hand, and which can be readily put on and taken off, and which is constructed to fit either hand, and to serve as a guide and support for the cue.
The object stated is attained by means of a novel combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device, and Fig. 2 is a cross-section thereof.
' Referring specifically to the drawing, the device comprises a transversely bowed or curved plate 5 having at one end a slot 6 for attachment of an elastic band 7, and at the opposite end a hook 8. The band carries an eye 9 adapted to be engaged by the hook 8 for securing the device to the players hand in position for use. From the plate is struck up and bent outward from its convex side, a tongue 10 which is curved in the direction of its length to form a cue rest or seat.
In use, the device is fastened to the hand by passing the band 7 around four fingers thereof, leaving the thumb free, and securdescribed and By the use of the device, the side of the I one need not be chalked as the one is guided entirely by the part 10 and does not touch the hand. The device can be applied, with equal. facility, to either hand, and it is therefore adapted for right as well as lefthanded players, and by its use greater skill and efficiency is obtained. The. device is also sanitary as the cue is held out of contact with the hand. This is especially desirable in public billiard and pool rooms where the cues are used by a great many different persons.
I claim A one guide comprising a curved plate having a tongue extending from its convex side, said tongue being curved in the direction of its length to form a one seat and guide, a hook at one end of the plate, an attaching band connected to the other end of the plate, and an eye on the free end of the band engageable by the aforesaid hook.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JOHN S. JAMES.
Vitnesses:
