GEORGIANA A. BUCKLEY, OF MONTBOSE, COLORADO.
PIN-TICKET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 3,1915.
Application filed April 29, 1914. Serial No. 835,328.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GnoRGIANA A. BUCK- LEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Montrose, in the county of Montrose and State of Colorado, have invented certaln new and useful Improvements in Pin- Tickets, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to certain improvements in pin tickets and has relation more particularly to a device of this general character especially designed and adapted for use in connection with articles of merchandise; and the object of the invention is to provide a pin ticket of this general character having novel and improved means whereby the possibility of injury being caused by the prongs of the ticket before and after being applied to the articles of merchandise is substantially entirely eliminated.
The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my improved pin ticket whereby certain lmportant advantages are attained and the device 1s rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, all as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
The novel features of the invention will be carefully defined in the appended claim.
In order that my invention may be the better understood, 1 will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure l is a plan view of a pin tlcket constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention, with the prongs thereof in their initial or inoperative position; Fig. 2 is a plan view of my improved pin ticket as herein set forth, with the prongs adjusted into a position to penetrate an article of merchandise; Fig. 3 is a plan view illustrating my improved pin ticket as herein set forth, with the prongs adjusted into locking position, the coacting fabric being shown in fragment; Fig. 4 is a view in side elevation of my improved pin ticket as disclosed in Fig. 3; and Fig. 5 is a longitudinal sectional view taken through my improved ticket as disclosed in Fig. 1, with the coacting pin shown in elevation.
As herein embodied, I provide a strand of wire which is bent intermediate its length to afiord the substantially parallel prongs 1, with the intermediate or headed portion 2 at its junctions with the prongs 1 bent to afford the loops 3 adapted to afford Pockets in which the free extremities of the prongs 1 are adapted to be depressed after the prongs l have been properly directed through an article of merchandise.
The ticket 4 in predetermined proximity to one of its ends is provided with a transversely disposed offset 5 through which the prongs 1 are projected, with the prongs 1 and intermediate portion 2 initially disposed in substantial parallelism with the opposite faces of the ticket 4 whereby it will be perceived that in handling the pin ticket, the possibility of injury from the prongs 1 is substantially entirely eliminated. When it is desired to apply the pin ticket to an article of merchandise, the headed or intermediate portion 2 is manipulated in a convenient manner so as to cause the prongs 1 to assume the position particularly illustrated in Fig. 2, and after the prongs have been disposed through the article of merchandise, the free extremities of the prongs are bent back upon themselves with their extremities depressed within the pockets afforded by the loops 3, as is particularly shown in Figs. 3 and 41, and whereby persons handling an article of merchandise are prevented from being injured by the prongs, as is believed to be clearly apparent to those skilled in the art to which my present invention appertains.
From the foregoing description, it is thought to be obvious that a pin ticket con structed in accordance with my invention is of an extremely simple and comparatively inxepensive nature and is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled, and it will also be obvious that my invention is susceptible of some change and modification without material departure from the principles and spirit thereof and for this reason I do not wish to be under stood as limiting myself to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice.
I claim:
A. device of the character described including a pin ticket provided with an offset portion intermediate its length, and a posed loops to receive the free extremities of 10 Wire pin comprising a pair of prongs and Mthe prongs.
an intermediate portion connecting said In testimony whereof I aflix my signature prongs, said prongsfbeing disposed through in the presence of tWo Witnesses.
the ofl'set portion 0 the ticket and initially lying in substantial parallelism With the GEORGIANA BUCKLEY' opposite faces ofthe ticket, the intermediate Witnesses:
portion of the pin at its junctions with the MARGARET STERGHI,
prongs being bent to form outwardly-dis- ERIcGRUNsTEnT.
