PILLOW-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 22, 1915.
Application filed May 13, 1913. Serial No. 767,472.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LEWIS A. GARREN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oskaloosa, in the county of Jefferson and State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pillow-Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to pillow holders and has particular reference to a device which will facilitate the introduction of a pillow into its case and will eliminate the case becoming torn while the pillow is being inserted therein.
An object of this invention is the provision of, a device which will be efficient in its operation, durable of. construction and at the same time may be manufactured at a minimum cost and will facilitate the introduction of a pillow in a case as well as devices of a more complicated character, and will eliminate the tearing of the pillow case which has heretofore very often been done when engaging a pillow case on a pillow.
Other objects as well as the nature, characteristic features and scope of my invention will be more readily understood from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the claims forming a part of this specification, wherein Figure l is an elevation of my improved device showing a pillow in dotted lines held between the arms; Fig. 2 is an end view of the same; and Fig. 3 is an elevation of the device showing the arms in a normal position.
In the drawings wherein is shown the preferred form of my invention the numeral 5 represents a pair of arms which are arranged in spaced relation to each other and are connected at the. one end thereof by the connecting rod 6 which has a loop 7 formed midway the ends thereof. The said loop 7 is, provided so as not only to increase the spring action of the arms but will also serve as a finger hold for facilitating the removal of the device, after the pillow has been inserted in its case. The free ends of the arms 5 are flared outwardly as indicated at 8 so as to facilitate the introduction of the pillow therebetween.
In Fig. 3 is shown a substantially triangular frame which is the normal position of my improved device and when the same is to be secured to a pillow the arms 5 are pulled outwardly by the hands of the operator thereof and the same readily inserted on the pillow. The provision of the loop 7, as before stated serves a dual purpose of increasing the spring action of the arms 5 0 and likewise serves as a handle through the medium of which the device is readily withdrawn from the pillow after the same has been inserted in the case. The device is preferably made of an elastic metal although 5 any other suitable material may be used, without departing from the spirit or scope of my invention. Another feature embodied in my invention is the construction of my device, which is so formed that the same may be also conveniently used for suspending the pillow from a suitable support for airing the same or the like.
It will be understood that the above description and accompanying drawings comprehend only the general and preferred embodiment of my invention and that various minor changes in details of construction, proportion and arrangement of the parts may be made within the scope of the aps0 pended claims and without sacrificing any of the advantages of my invention.
Having thus fully described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1'. A pillow holder including spring arms forming the sides of a triangle adapted for a yielding engagement with the sides of a pillow and at an angle to said pillow sides to compress the same into a smaller lateral compass, an integral portion joining said arms and forming the base of said triangle, and a finger loop centrally located on said portion.
2. A pillow holder including a base portion, a finger loop centrally located thereon and aflording resiliency thereto, arms inon said arms for facilitating the engagetegrally and resiliently formed at the exment thereof With said pillow. 10 tremities of said base portion, said arms In testimony whereof I affix my signature being converged to normally form With said in presence of tWo Witnesses.
