To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ALBERT R. LARRABEE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Jersey City, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Display Cards, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to cards adapted to display and analogous uses, and has for its essential objects economy of space, cheapness of construction, firmness of engagement, and accessibility.

To the above ends essentially my invention consists in such parts and combinations of parts as fall within the scope of the ap pended claims. r

In the accompanying drawings which form a part of this specification, Figure l is a front elevation of my display card showing two cards or photos mounted thereon, Fig. 2, a rear elevation of a lateral portion of the same, Fig. 3, a section on line 00, a2, of Fig. 1, and Figs. 4 and 5, detail views of the engaging members or clips.

Like reference characters indicate like parts throughout the views.

A represents a body or backing of cardboard or other material of any convenient shape, but preferably square or oblong, and provided with a perforation a at its central upper portion adapted for suspension purposes. Spaced upon its lateral edges are cavities or openings 6. Parallel with each series of cavities is a series of holes 0 in the lateral margins of the body, each hole being in horizontal alinement with the adjacent cavity, and with a corresponding hole upon the opposite margin. A string, thread, filament or like member D is applied to the holes and cavities of each side of the display card as follows: The string is passed by a series of manipulations through the holes 0 and the cavities b in a series of horizontal loops d, so that the intersections of the material at the closed ends of the loops occurs in the cavities b, whence the portions 6 of the string that is continued from the intersections pass along'the edge of the card to the next adjacent cavity. The loops d are preferably drawn sufliciently loose to admit the application thereto of clips, holds, or suspension members F, which in the present instance are U-shaped in form con sisting of an arched portion f and two parallel arms f. One arm 7" has an opening 9 near its lower end, and the other arm has an integral projection or prong 9 adapted to register in the opening 9 when the arms are bent toward and into contact with each other. The member F is preferably of bendable material and may if desired be provided in its arched end portion 7 with a V-shaped opening it. Upon each loop (Z is suspended one of the members F, the former passing between the logs of the latter member and in contact with the concave face of the portion f. It will be observed that each suspension member is capable of pivotal movement upon its loop or suspension filament (Z, and further that the respective members of each of the two marginal series of suspension members are in horizontal alinement with each other so as to adapt them for engaging the articles to be suspended near the end portions of the latter and to hold the same in perfect horizontal alinement.

In the drawings are shown two cards or photographs H attached to the members F. To insert a card or other article in the members the arms f are normally distended at their ends and the margin of the card is inserted intermediate the legs upwardly to a point adjacent the portionf of the suspension member, and then the legs are man ually pressed together to bring the prong 9 into or through the opening g, and through the material of the card, thus firmly engaging the latter.

It will be observed that the suspended cards H overlap each other in a series as suggested by Figs. 1 and 3, wherein only two cards are shown attached for the purpose of illustration. The lower margins of these cards are spaced from each other, and are at an inclination so as to be readily accessible; and when it is desired to examine the face of an intermediate card the pivotal character of the members F permit all the cards above the desired card to be readily swung upwardly, simultaneously against the face of the body A, and immediately disclose the card being examined. By this arrangement furthermore a maximum number of cards may be arranged in a minimum space and the cost of construction of the device is small.

What I claim is 1. In a display card, a body having a plu rality of longitudinal series of holes and marginal cavities, and a plurality of transversely-disposed loops formed from a filament engaged in said holes and cavities.

2. In a display card, a body having a plurality of longitudinal series of holes and marginal; cavities, a plurality of transverselydisposed loops formed from a filament engaged in said holes and cavities, and suspending members pivotally mounted in said loops.

3. In a display card, a body provided With a plurality of longitudinal series of 2 holes adjacent an edge thereof and with along the edge of said body, and suspension members pivotally mounted on the loops;

5. In a display card, the combination of a body provided Withlongitudinal series of holes upon its lateral margins, and cavities in its lateral edges in transverse alinement with the holes, loops registering in the holes and cavities formed from a continuous filament, and suspension members pivotally mounted on the loops. I

6. In a display card, the combination of a body provided with series of marginal holes, and with cavities in its edges adjacent the holes and in alinement therewith, loops formed from a continuous filament passing through the holes, said loops having their closed ends located in the cavities, and sus pension members mounted in the loops.
