A CQRPORATION OF CONNECTICUT.
SAFETY-Pm PACKAGE.
Application filed December 17, 1923. Serial no. 681,084.
' T all whom it may concern:
Be .it known that I, GEORGE BonEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Vate'rbury, county of New Haven, and
State of Connecticut, have invented'certain new and useful .Improvements in Safety-.
be readily removed therefrom, and be read- In the best Pin Packages, fully described and represented in the following specification and the accompanying drawings,
forming a part of the same.
This invention relates to certaln improvments- .in packages for displaying and marketingisafety pins. v
it lis the especial) object of the present invention to provide an improved package for safety pins of attractive appearance, whichcan be readily and cheaply put up with pins' of different sizes arranged in sets, andif-from"which the purchaser can easily and quickly obtain a pin or a set of pins of the desired size, the pins being pa'ckagedso that accidental removal from the package is prevented andso that a single pin may be removed from aset without the removal of the other pins of theset. -With this and other objects not spec1- fically referred to in view 'theinvention consists in certain novel parts, arrangements and combinations which will be described in connection with the accompany-- ing drawings and the novel features pointed out in theclaims hereunto annexed.
In the drawings w Figure 1 is a 'face' orfront view of the package. 1
F'gure 2 is-an, edge view; and Figure 3 is a sectionalplan view taken on line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
Referring now to these drawings, the improved package includes'a sup rt. For
ready assembly of the pins this support will be of some readily pierceable material Y pins may be hung or strung thereon throng as light cardboard 1. Secured in this cardmount are a number of in en orts, these pin supports being-of a size suc that safet their eye 2, and preferably .so as to have aswinging movement on the supports, so that if the card is tipped the pins will swin'g out from the face of the support, thus adding a certain attractiveness to the packagewhich helps to sell it. These sup- -moving Thecard is pierced with slots 9 for eachports are arranged, as shown, one above the other, and each support is capacitatedv to carry a set of pins of any desired num-- ber preferably of the same size. While these -support-s may yary in character they will be such as to permit a pin or pins to .pin .1n each set is supplied-the customer.
As shown, therefore, there are included in the package a number. of sizes of pin supports, a large size 3, a medium size 4, and a small size 5, the pin support 3 carrying a set of large pins 6, the supporting pin 4 carrying. a set of medium pins 7, and
the small supporting pin 5 carrying a set of similar small pins 8. It is obvious of course that the number and sizesof the supporting pins andthe pins carried thereby, aswell as their position in the cardmount may be varied as desired. Furthermore, a singlepin may be removed without disturbing the other pins in the set, or re the supporting pin from the card.
supporting pin, these. slots being dimenv sioned 'to' receive the head and eye of the pin, as shown; In assembling'the package the supportin pin is opened, the pin end passed throng one ofv the slots, the pins strun'g thereon, and' the pin snapped mto the head, which projecting through the opposite slot permits this to be done.
With this construction a package is procan be quickly assembled, and: from which the customer may remove a set of pins, or single, pins, as may be desired. While the invention has been shown in its'previded which is neat in appearance, which ferred form, it is obvious that changes may be made in the' support and in the arrangement of the pins thereon without departing from the invention ap nded claims.
' at I claim is:
1. A safetygin package including a flat support, spac slots in the support dimensioned to receive the head and eye of a as defined in the safety pin, safety pins pinned in the supsupport, and safety pins hung from the port, and a number of safety pins hung supporting pins, each supporting pin and on the supporting pins. the pins supported thereby being of a, simi- 10 2. A safety pln package comprising a. lar size. 5 card, spaced slots in the card dimensioned In testimony whereof, I have hereunto to receive the head and eye of a safety pin, .set my hand. safety pins of different sizes pinned on the v GEORGE BODEN.
