(ci. 24a- 35) 4 Claima 1 My invention relates to calendars and more particularly to calendars adapted to be used as desk calendars as well as purse and pocket .callldars.
The object of my invention is to provide -a calendar including an adjustable slide indicating the dates, and a disk indicating the years, -tfhe months and the days of the week on `which the respective months start.
Another object of my invention is to provide such a calendar, which is made of thin cardboard of strong texture, or the like.
A further object of my invention is to provide such a calendar, which is easily operated I for adjustment and has ample space for advertising v purposes.
A still further object of my invention is to provide such a calendar, which is good for atleast two years.
Other objects of my invention may appear in the following specification describing it with reference to the accompanying drawing illustrating a preferred embodiment of Iny invention. It is however, to ,be understood that my invention `1S not to be limited or restricted to the exact construction and combination of parts described in the speciiication and shown in the drawing. but that such changes and modifications can be made, which fall within the Scope of the claims appended hereto In the drawing;

Reierrins now .in .detail .to the drawing. the calendar vaccording to my invention has a body formed from `a .blank indicated in the drawing in general by the index numeral 1 0.
The body is preferably made rfrom light .cardboard of strong texture and has a rectangular portion II outlined vby dotted lines I2. This portion I I is used to form the iront wall of .the body lo and yhas a flap I3 formed .thereon by cutting a rectangle on its lower lougltudinaI .edge and the two end edges, but leaving it attached to .the front wall on its upper longitudinal edge `as clearly a distance from the lower edge I2 oi' the Afront wall I I and is located symmetrically about the Vertical center line of the front wall.
Above the flap I 3 a legend I4 is printed on the front Wall l l indicating the .days of the week- The space occupied by this legend I4 is of equal length with the ap I3.
Above the legend I4 and to the left therefrom another legend I5 `is arranged, reading.Month days, and above this legenda rectangular opening I5 is cut into the front wall I I. This opening is .lust as long as the space occupied by the sec, ond legend L5.
At the other Side of the flap L3 and at the same level with the second legend I5 a third legend Il is printed indicating the yeara during .which the calendar `can be used. Above this legend I1 at the same level with the first opening I6 a sec.- Qnd rectangular opening I8 is provided extending over the same length as the third legend I'I,
Between the two openings I5 and I 8 the following legend is printed: The 1st starts onl Yand lst and starts are arranged `at a distance from each other- Above the top edge Vline I2 of the front wall portion `I I, another rectangular blank portion vI-il is located having the same dimensions as the front wall portion `I l. This second blank portion t9 is Afolded downwardly on the upper edge line `I2 oi' the front wall portion, so that it will be qlg'ioated back of the portion I I, and forms the rear walLof the calendar body.
On the upper edge line I2 and symmetrically to the prolongation of the transverse center line of the `front wall .portion Il an arcuate cut-out n2,0 4is provided in the back wall portion I9. Two rectangular cut-. outs 2I and 2,2 respectivelmjare varranged in the back wall portion I9, s o lthat they coincide with the two rectangular openings vIii and I 8 in the front wall portion II, when the .back wall portion I9 is bent or folded backvof the front wall portion II. The cut-outs provide-sight openings -for observing the back of the ,discy 21.
On the back wall portion I 9 a tongue 23 is formed, so that it ex-tends downwardly, when this portion is in position to for-m the back wall-.of the calendar body. This tongue 23 is located centrally between and just above the two cut-.outs 2| and 22.

In Figure 4 a cardboard disk 21 is illustrated, which has a hole 28 in its center. A corresponding hole 29 is provided in the front wall portion II and is located in the space between 1st and starts printed on this front wall portion, so that a prolongation of the horizontal diameter of this hole 23 bisects the space between the two rectangular openings I6 and I8 in the -front wall portion. s
On the face of the disk 21 two concentric rows of indicia and 3| are arranged concentrically with the hole Z8, and these rows are divided in twenty-four equal parts. In the twelve parts of the lower half of the space between the two con'- centric rows the months of the year and the number of days in each month are indicated, s o that these legends extend radially to the disk.
On the face of the disk underneath the hole 28 the years are indicated, for which the disk can be used. In the drawing the years 1947 and 1948 f.
.are indicated.
In the twelve spaces between the upper halves ofthe concentric rows 30 and 3 I the names of days are arranged, so that the days indicated in 'the space diametrically opposite to each month named on the lower half of the disk. are thedays on which the said month begins in the years 194'? and 1948, respectively, or any other year for which the calendar is prepared.
The diameters of thetwo concentric rows of Y gularly. On the face of the slide the numerals indicating the dates of a month are arranged in the. following manner: There are six horizontally extending rows of figures, which are divided into thirteen vertical columns..
The first six fields in the uppermost row are empty, and in the other fields of this row-the lnumerals from 1 to '1 inclusive are arranged. In
the second horizontal row the numerals from 2 through 14 appear; in the third row the numerals from 9 through 21 appear; in the fourth row thenumerals from 16 through 28 are printed; in the fifth row the numerals from 23 through 31 are arranged in the rst nine columns and the lastfour fields are empty, and in the last row the numbers 30 and 31 appear in the first two vfields vand the other eleven fields are empty.
4The. calendar is assembled in the following manner: The slide 32 is placed back of the front wall portion I I underneath the ap I3. The rear wall portion I9 is folded downwardly to form therear wall of the body and the disk 21 is insertedbetween the front and rear walls behind A hollow rivet, 33 or the like extends through the hole 29 in the front wall Il, the hole 28 in the disk 21 and a hole 34 arranged in the rear wall I9, so that this hole is coaxial with the other two holes,
'when the rear wall portion I 9V is. folded down, 'and the disk 21 is placed into working position. This rivet 33 attaches the disk rotatably tothe body.
The narrow flaps 24 and 25 are folded rear- Wardly to lie flat against the back surface of the rear wall I9 and are secured thereto in any desired and preferred manner, for instance, by
lmeans of glue or the like.
The diameter of the disk 21 is such that its front wall portion, a narrow tab on each end of lower edge portion is located above the bottom edges of the front and rear walls and its upper edge portion extends through the arcuate cutout 20 in the rear wall I9, when the calendar is assembled.
The name of a month can be read through the first rectangular opening I6 in the front wall above the legend Month and the number of Vdays in thatmonth above-the -legendDays" on i-the frontwall. Through the second rectangular opening I8 the name of the day can be read, on
which the month indicated starts in the year Veach name of a day of the week in the legend I4 on the frontV wall. When it is indicated that a month starts on a Tuesday, the slide is arranged so that the numeral I thereon is located underneath Tuesday, etc. The opening in the front wall caused by the rearward positioning of the flap I3 is exactly big enough to permit the dates of a month indicated on the slide to be read.
If the calendar is to be used as a pocket or purse calendar, the long narrow tongue 25 is removed, but when the calendar is used as a desk calendar, the tongue is bent rearwardly on the bottom edge of the front wall II. Then the tongue is bent upwardly and forwardly at a line 31 indicated in Figure 3 and then upwardly at a line 38. The upwardly extending end portion of the tongue 25 is placed underneath the small tongue 23Y on the rear wall I9, so that a support is formed for the calendar as clearly shown in Figure 2.
Having described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. A calendar including a body formed from a blank having a front Wall portion, a rear wall portion adapted to be folded to lie in back of the the front wall portion and two narrow tabs on the bottom edge of the front wall portion adjacent the corners thereof and spaced from each other,
said narrow tabs being adapted to be folded rearwardly and to be secured to the rear surface of Ythe'back wall portion, a comparatively long and tending downwardly, the long narrow tongue being adapted to be folded rearwardly on the bottom edge of the front wall portion, and upwardly and forwardly at 2, distance from the first fold, the end of said long, narrow tongue being adapted to be bent upwardly and to be secured underneath the tongue formed on the rear wall portion.
` 2. A calendar including a body formed from a blank having a front wall portion, a rear wall portion adapted to be folded to lie in back oi the front wall portion, said front wall portion being provided with aV swingable ap for support of a card containing indicia thereon between the front face of said flap and the complemental back face of said front wall portion, there being a pair of spaced rectangular openings arranged adjacent the upper corners of said flap, a
.narrow tongue depending from the bottom edge mately centrally thereof, and a small tongue formed on the rear Wall portion and arranged also approximately centrally thereof and extending downwardly, the narrow tongue being adapted to be folded rearwardly on the bottom edge of the front wall portion, and upwardly and forwardly with the end thereof adapted to be bent upwardly and 4to be secured underneath said small tongue on the rear wall portion.
3. A calendar including a body formed from a blank having a front wall portion, a rear wall portion of substantially the same size as said front wall portion and adapted to be folded to lie in back of the front wall portion, said front Wall portion being provided with a swingable flap for support of a card containing indicia thereon between the front face of said flap and the complemental back face of said front wall, a narrow tongue depending from the bottom edge of said front wall portion, and arranged approximately centrally thereof, and a small tongue formed on the rear wall portion and arranged also approximately centrally thereof and extending downwardly, the narrow tongue being adapted to be folded rearwardly on the bottom edge of the front wall portion and upwardly and forwardly with the end thereof being adapted to be bent upwardly and to be secured underneath said small tongue on the rear wall portion.
4. A calendar including a body formed from a blank having a front wall portion, a rear wall portion adapted to be folded to lie in back of the front wall portion, said front wall portion being provided with a swingable ap for support of a card containing indicia thereon between the front face of said flap and the complemental back face of said front wall portion, a narrow tongue depending from the bottom edge of said front wall portion, and arranged approximately centrally thereof, a small tongue formed on the rear wall portion and arranged also approximately centrally thereof and extending downwardly, the narrow tongue being adapted to be folded rearwardly on the bottom edge of the front wall portion and upwardly and forwardly with the end thereof being adapted to be bent upwardly and to be secured underneath a tongue, formed on the rear wall portion, and means for securing the thus folded front and rear wall portions together, said means comprising tabs arranged along the side and front ends of said front wall portion, interconnected to said front wall portion by crease lines and adapted to be folded along the crease lines to overlap the edges of said rear wall.
