Application filed September 16, 1921. Serial No, 501,092.
To @ZZ ywhomy i may concern.'
it known that l, ARTHUR S. Moll/inni', a citizen ot tue United States, residing in the city ot New t, county ot Essex, State ot New Jersey, have invented certain new and ustful Coin Receptacles and Stands, which the tollowing is a specication.r
This invention relates to receptacles for coins suitable tor desk stands'and similar purposes, and relates more particularly to a receptacle having a front of ci board or other stiliG material, and having a back consisting of an envelope or similar receptacle, the front and back being arranged so as to form a stable stand, and to permit coins to be inserted in a slot in the front and drop into the rear receptacle. When the receptacle is full, or when it'is desired to transfer the coins to a bankfor deposit, or to any other place, the receptacle can be easily de-v tached from the front. f
A particular embodiment of my invention is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1, is a perspective View of the collapsible coin receptacle and stand.
Figure Qisa section of the receptacle and stand taken on the line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 shows a moditied form of my receptacle and stand in perspective.
Figure 4 is a section of the upper part of the modilied torni ot' receptacle and stand taken on the line 4 4 ot' Figure 3.
Figure 5 is a section oit the upper part of i the receptacle with the llap Fturned over the slot.
In the drawings, the front A, of cardboard or other stili1 material, may be plain or may have on it an ornamental design, a calendar, or other printed matter. and the name of a bank or other institution or company, or individual, and in its upper part it has a slot C, for the reception ot coins D, or currency. The back B, is a receptacle, such as an envelope, or' paper or similar material, thinner than that of the front, but stift enough to form a support for the tront and make a stable stand. The receptacle has two parts, Z) and b1, which are fastened together, in the usual manner of an envelope, to form a receptacle. Atthe upper end of the part b, adjoining the front A, is a slot C1, which corresponds exactly with the slot C in the trent, and the upper portion et Zi, down to lmproven'ients. in Collapsible' the line FJ, below the slot, is attached to A by glue, paste, or otherwise, so that a coin inserted in C will pass through C1 and drop inte the receptacle B. The rback ot' the receptacle l may have instructions, records, addresses or any other desired matter printed er written on it.' i
ln the 4torm'shown in Figures l 'and 2 the 'front A and theback B are both rectangular and of the 4same width.' The upper Ytlap F'y of the receptacle is narrow enough to be above the slot, and is closed before, or when, the receptacle B is attached to the front A;
In the modiiied form shown in Figures 3, et and 5, the t'ront A1 has curved sides and the back B1 is narrower' than the front. The 'tiap F is turned back over the part 22 before, or when, the part o is attached to the front A. When the receptacle B is detached from the front A, the iiap F', as
shown in Figure 5, is turned over the slot C in part o and can-be` fastened so as to close the slot, being wide enough for that purpose.
rllhis gives additional security against coins dropping out of the receptacle whenit is carried about atte-r being detached from the front, although in the form shown Vin Figures l and 2, the slot is so near thetop of the envelope receptacle, that thereV is little danger of this happening.
In the form shown in Figures 3, 4 and 5,` the parts b and 5 otthe receptacle B may be permanently fastened together at the top, or, it not, any opening at the top due to the turning back of the flap F can be closed when the receptacle B is attached to the front A', vby'pasting, glueing or otherwise attaching the top edge of part 13 to the front A or to the part 7).
rFhis coin receptacle and stand is excellently adapted for banks and savings institutions, and being decorative anu attractive in appearance, it is suitable tor a desk or table or mantle ornament, and it acts as a constant reminder to save. rllhe back of the receptacle may have any desired directions, addresses `or other matter printed or written on it. One convenient feature for the front of my stand is 'a monthly calendar, and at the end of the month the receptacle can be detached and taken to the bank, and a new stand and receptacle supplied.
Various modifications can be made in the and I do not confine inyseltl to the particular embodiment of my invention herein shown described; but what l claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is l. A coin receptacle and stand comprisingI a stiff liront, a back consisting of an envelope detaehably secured to said lfront, slots in said front and said envelope registering with each other, and a iliap on said envelope which is bent back When said envelope is attached to said Jiront, and can be fastened over the slot in 4said envelope when the latter is detached from said front.
2. A ooin receptacle and stand comprising` a front of cardboard Yor like material having a coin slot in its upper part, a bach consisting of an envelope with its upper part attached to said ifront, and having a Coin slot Which registers With the slot in said front, said envelope'being detachable from said front, and 'having a Hap which can be fastened over the slot in said envelope When said envelope is detached.
3. A coin receptacle and stand comprising a front of cardboard or similar' material, a back having a closed' pocket, said front and said back being detaehably fastened together at their upper ends and separated at their lower ends so as to 'form a stable base, a slot in the upper part oi" said front and a corresponding slot in the upper part of said back, and a flap on said baci; i'or fastening over the slot in said back when the latter is detached from the front. y
In testimonf7 whereof, l have signed in); naine to this applic-ation, in the presence ot two subscribing Witnesses, this dag.' of Sept., 19,21.
