My invention relates to improvements in a price marking device of the type disclosed in United States Patent Number 1,824,794; issued to me September 29, 1931, reference to which is hereby made.
The present invention comprises an improved mounting member or holder in which a flexible card or member is scored and folded to hold and expose one or more detached price-indicating elements and also to form a support.
The primary object of the present invention is to provide a new and improved price marking `shaped article exposed for sale.
The invention consists in the construction and arrangement of the parts as disclosed in the drawing forming a part of the present application, and in which- Fig. l is a view of the device opened to receive detached price-indicating elements;
Fig. l2 is a front elevation of the device folded to hold and expose a price;
Fig. 3 is a rear elevation of Fig. 2;
Fig. 4 is a top plan view of Fig. 2;
Fig. 5 is an end elevation of Fig. 2, partly in section;
Fig. 6 is a detailed view of one of the detachable price-indicating elements, slightly unfolded.
Referring to the drawing:
The numeral I is used to designate a flexible card or member having proximate parallel double scores 2V adjacent the upper and lower edges to provide upper and lower naps 3, and further scored transversely of the first scores 2, as at y4, to provide preferably tapered tabs 6 on each end of said member l and particularly the ends.
of the flaps 2 thereon, as disclosed in Fig. l of the drawing.
Eachl tab 6 Vis slit transversely from one edge and near the end thereof to provide a tongue 8 and a securing means for engaging the slit 1 of the opposite tab 6, in a manner and for a purpose hereinafter more fully set forth. Each tab 6 is also slit or tudinally as at 9.
One or more detached price-indicating ele'- ments or strips lil, preferably of comparatively thin paper or other suitable material, are folded upon transverse lines ll to expose a selected character or numeral l2, of a number of such characters printed or otherwise impressed upon both sides of the said strip, as indicated in Figs. l and 2 of the drawing.
In operation:
The strips or price-indicating elements l0 are folded to expose the required character and placed upon the central portion of the flexible card or member i between the open or extended slotted `centrally and longiflaps 2 and tabs t thereof. The :tiaps 3 are then folded over their adjacent margins of the card or member i and the ends of the folded strips or detached price-indicating elements l0, as disclosed in the lower portion of Fig. 1 of the drawing. The flaps 3, being formed by double or spaced scores 2, Will fold over the margin of the member I in spaced relation thereto and thereby form a box or pocket Within which the ends of the folded strips or price-indicating elements Il) are held, as disclosed in the upper corner of Fig. 5 of the drawing.
Aff-X By bending the tabs rearwardly on the mem- I ber l and connecting their ends by means of the slits 7, as disclosed in Fig. 3 of the drawing, the aps 3 are securely held in folded position and effectively retain the folded strips or priceindicating elements lll exposed, and also form an easel or support in the form of an open loop.
Thissupport in the form of an open loop, as disclosed in Fig. 4 of the dravn'ng, is one of the important advantages and features of the present invention as it not only supports the device upon the neck of a bottle or similarly shaped article of merchandise exposed for sale, but it also serves as a convenient and eifective support upon a :dat surface.
Instead of locking theslits 'l together to form the open loop, the tabs 6 may be folded flat against the back of the member l and the outermost tongue 8 may be inserted into an adjacent longitudinal slit 9 of the other tab 6, as indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 3 of the drawing.
Having described my invention, I claim- 1. A price-marking device comprising the combination with detached'price-indicating elements, of a flexible card having flaps on the top and bottom edges and folding over the upper and lower margins of said card to detachably hold and expose said elements; and tabs on the ends of said card and flaps and folding rearwardly to hold said flaps folded, .each tab having means for engaging the other to form a support.
2.. A price-marking device comprising the combination with detached price-indicating elements, of a exible member scored to form folding flaps on the upper and lower edges thereof for folding over the upper and lower margins of said member to detachably hold said elements, and also scored to form folding tabs on the ends thereof and connected to the ends of said flaps for holding the same in folded position, each tabV having a transverse slit to form atongue on said tab and to engage the slit in the other tab and form a loop to support said device.
3. A price-marking device comprising the combination with detached price-indicating elements of a flexible member scored adjacent the top and bottom edges to form folding flaps forrfolding over and onto the top and bottom margins of said member to detachably hold said elements exposed between said flaps, said member being further scored to form end tabs foldably on said member and connected to the ends of said flaps for holding the same in position when said tabs are folded rearwardly on said member, said tabs having longitudinal and transverse slits, said transverse slits forming tongues on said tabs, one of said tongues engaging a longitudinal slit in the other tab to hold said tabs substantially flat against the back of said member.
4. A price-marking device comprising the combination with detached price-indicating elements of a flexible member doubly scored in proximate parallel relation to the upper and lower edges thereof to form folding flaps for folding over the upper and lower margins of said member vand in spaced relation thereto, to form upper CLEMENS ROHLF'ES.
