JUSTIN SCHWARZBART, OF BERLIN, GERMANY.
HOLDER FOR SNUFF AND THE LIKE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 16, 1915.
Application filed February 29, 1912. Serial No. 680,764.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JUSTIN SoHwARzBAn'r, subject of the German Emperor, residing at 22 J iidenstrasse, Berlin, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Holders for Snuff and the like, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to a holder of snuff powder.
The novel feature of the present invention consists in that this holder, which is made in a very handy form and may be conveniently carried in ones pocket, has a snuifmg end, so that the holder can serve as a nasal inhaler. This snufling arrangement is adapted to the shape of the nose and may be easily and conveniently introduced into the nostrils.
In the accompanying drawing several constructional forms of the present invention are exemplified.
Figures 1, 2, 3 show a holder in two parts with twonozzles. Figs. 4 and 5 are a special constructional form for powder snuff.
In Figs. 1, 2 and 3 the fiat vessel is made of the cover 9 and the bottom 7 to form a flat receptacle. The flattened ends it have holes 2', which register with each other when the parts f and g are assembled, and will thereby admit of air entering into the space when the snuff powder is snuffed. The snufiing end consists of the nozzles 73 which are formed when the parts f and g are assembled. When not in use the nozzles are covered by the sleeve-shaped cap d.
In Figs. 4 and 5 is shown a constructional form, which is of particular importance for filling the holder with snuff. In the part If is provided a partition M, which has a bore 41. When the parts t and w are assembled a separate chamber is formed in the holder.
Into this chamber is placed a wad of cotton wool or the like, which will prevent the snuff powder from falling out through the openings o and ac and on the other hand allow of a passage of air in snuliing. The partition is necessary to prevent the cotton wool from being drawn out by the suction in snutfing and that too large quantities of snuff enter the nose.
The holder may be made of any suitable material. It is essential that it is made of a fiat shape and can be conveniently carried in ones pocket.
I claim:
A holder for snufi and the like comprising a. bottom member consisting of a flat piece having a substantially double V shaped end, an upwardly extending flange extening entirely around the perimeter of said flat piece, said flange having an opening through it at the front end of the holder and an opening coinciding with each of the V shaped ends, and a top member consisting of a fiat piece having a substantially double V shaped end, a downwardly extending flange extending entirely around the perimeter of said top flat piece and provided with holes coinciding with the holes in the flange of the bottom member, said top member being constructed to fit over the bottom member, and a cover constructed to fit over both of the double V shaped ends; said V shaped ends constituting nozzles constructed to fit into the nostrils.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
vDR. JUSTIN SCHWVARZBART. Witnesses:
WALTER PAUL, SIEGFRIED KozBERG.
