DEVICE FOR PERMITTING ADJUSTMENT OF NECKTIES. I
Specicaton of Letters Patent.
Pa Jeeirllted Feb. '16, 19t@ VApplication tiled March l5, 1.909. Serial No. 483,523.
.for Permitting Adjustment of Neckties, of
which the following is a specification.
rlhis invention relates to apparel and relates particularly to devices adapted for use in connection with turn-down7 collars, tok
permit neckties to be quickly and convenientlT adjusted endwise therein, when the collars are on The object of the invention is to provide means in connection with turn-down collar to prevent the collar from pincl'iing and binding upon the necktie when the tie is placed thereinand the col-lar put on thus permitting the necktie to he easily pulled endwise to adjust the 4ends to proper 4lengths for tying, which, as is well known,
is now the cause of frequent and great an noyance. To this end, a device of my inven-V tion, which, for purposes of convenient reference, will be designated herein as a slip comprises the various features and details of construction hereinafter described and claimed.
ln the accompanying drawing, in which my invention is fully illustrated-Figure l is a perspective View of a collar to which one ol' my improved necktie slips is applied, said collar and necktie slip' being both broken away, in\part, to show the construction and operation of said slip. Fig. 2 is a. front view of my improved slip, showing a necktie in position therein, preparatory to inserting the same into thefold of a collar; and Fig. 3 is a sectional View through said collar, slip and necktie, on an enlarged scale.
Referring now to the drawing, designates, as a whole, al 'usual type of tui'n-down collar.
My improved slip, designated as a whole by B, is made of suitable material, preferabiliT silk 'or satin cloth or fabric, of such character that neckties will adhere thereto as little as possible, and comprises two plies l and 2, secured together at one edge and shaped to conform, in a general way, to the shape of the collar .A. Said slip B is designed and adapted to be inserted between the `folds of the collar A and the necktie,
shown at C, is adapted to be inserted between the plies l and 2 of said slip.
it is found in practice, that the anti-friction character of the slip B reduces the friction between the said slip and the tie C to such an extent that said tie may be pulled endwisc to adjust its ends to proper, lengths for tying with comparative ease. To still further reduce the frictional resistance to the endwise movement of said tie, the plies l and 2 of the slip B are preferabl57 spaced apart. as by a strip 3 of braid or thelike. inserted between the connected edges of said plies l and 2, which will operate to prevent, to a large extent, the collar and slip from pinching and binding upon the necktie.
I claim :u
A slip comprising plies of suitable antifriction material connected at their upper ALBERT N. MARQUIS.
